About
Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Solid public course
Decent condition - aerated greens, - a week or two away from good greens

No food, sanded greens
No food for breakfast,
Tee to green with all the rain was fine.
Downside was sanded greens with no info about it. Overall not worth the $70for the round.

Rude and arrogant , just avoid to cross upon Scott at the pro shop ! One inch of sand on all the greens , and a buggy which can not accelerate …..

Fair and challenging
Course layout is phenomenal! With dog legs, long par 3s and hidden Tee boxes keeps pace of play moving smoothly without the frustration of feeling stacked on top of one another. I rarely saw the group behind us and only saw the group in front for a brief moment when approaching a new hole or finishing the green coming around a blind turn. With at least 3 Tee’s possibly 4 allows people of all skill levels to enjoy a great game. High bunkers protecting the greens and tricky water hazards that play on about 1/3 of the course keeps you on your toes no serious elevation changes makes for a long but doable walking course. My personal favorite is the fast greens that break True. With rolling fairways conditioned sub-par allowing for great drives that keep going. It’s almost like you know there’s grass there somewhere because your not hitting out of the dirt always but the grass just doesn’t want to grow. Overall the course is very well maintained with perfectly edged fairways some tough rough spots if you find yourself in tree territory and large manicured greens well worth the $$$ friendly players practice areas include a triple deck driving range. Snack bar is very limited with choices of hot dog or granola/power Barnot positive but was told there is a restaurant upstairs with an actual menu I look forward to it next time With such a beautiful see-nary it’s easy to forget your smack in the inner city

WORTHLESS
The pace is insanely slow.
My tee time was delayed for 30+ min and had to wait 5-10 min every single shot.

Dissapointing, five hour round. g trend
The course has seemingly deteriorated of late, the fairways were dried out, hard pan.
The pace of play was very slow - group ahead 2 holes behind - no marshall.

Beyond slow,
Delayed 15 min to tee off, hot deal was more like hot torture. Course has never been the sane since before the pandemic. All the pictures of green grass are before pandemic Summer, winter , Fall and spring grass is gone. 3 hours for 9 holes , only finished 14 holes in 4.5 hour . I loved the course in past but it’s not returning to past conditions , Golfers will continue to pay so no motivation to improve pace or conditions.

Fairways very dry and first time ever that greens were full of dry spots .. don’t understand after all rain we received Dec and Jan
