About
Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Starter..
Only staff I met today was starter.
I understand his job is very stressful these days because of Covid-19. But every time I visit the course (3times since last month) he was rude and inpatient. He needed vacation I guess.

Snail's Pace - No Marshal
It was an absolutely miserable pace. There were at least 2 groups backed up almost every single hole. We later realized that one extremely slow foursome had slowed down the entire course with at least two holes wide open in front of them. One stern warning from a marshal could have improved the whole day for a lot of people. Unfortunately, we didn't see a marshal on the course at all. We like this course but will probably not return after this experience.

Nice tee boxes
Nice , well maintained course for a public course. Tee times were scheduled far enough apart, so didn’t back up. All tee boxers from blue to red locked nice .

Good Course if you can get a Tee Time
My second time playing as it is pretty hard to get a good tee time on wknds.
The course was well maintained, staff friendly and the level of difficulty moderate. Some holes are challenging while others are friendly.
The water features add to an already nice course.

Solid course, soft greens
The course is in good shape. The greens needed a trim. They were soft and a bit slow.

Great Course!
Very nice, challenging course with trees, hills, water, and sand on nearly every hole.
As a kid-high handicapper, this was a nice challenge.
The pace and layout was very good for the most part. I do think the back to back par 3 late in the front nine tended to slow down play. We were stacked up 3 groups there. Otherwise, pace was great.
