Rio Hondo Golf Club

Very nice, challenging course with trees, hills, water, and sand on nearly every hole.

As a kid-high handicapper, this was a nice challenge.

The pace and layout was very good for the most part. I do think the back to back par 3 late in the front nine tended to slow down play. We were stacked up 3 groups there. Otherwise, pace was great.

I’ll definitely be back!

This Golf Course is well maintained and offers very good greens, fairways and t boxes..

Ambassador keeps pace of play adequate when requested..

Check in is simple and golf carts are well maintained.

Overall, all though it is a public course, it can rival some of the private courses in the area.

I regret not knowing that there was such a great course nearby. I will return soon.

Was a very nice day at Hondo today, showed up 45 minutes early, hit a bucket of balls, tee off was right on time, round was 4 hours if not a little quicker, course is in nice shape and staff was very friendly. Nothing to complain about here, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed

This is my favorite course within the Long Beach area. It's challenging, beautiful and the greens are great. Sand is always fluffy as can be expected. The clubhouse is beautiful, the staff friendly and if you want food and drinks at the turn, they are quick about it. Love this course! No wonder it's difficult to get a good tee time.

Great overall course conditions. Greens are on the slower side. Bunkers are well maintained even without rakes. The driving range was open to golfers 30mins prior to tee time. Practice putting greens remain closed. Great value, will be back again.

This course is always in great shape... and it is now. Pace of play was very good... finished in 4 hours. I definitely recommend.

Had not played the course in about 8 years, and was pleasantly surprised.

Played a twilight round and it was in great shape. Greens a little slow, but true. Many good doglegs, and the sand was the nicest texture I have seen, including much more expensive courses.

Good pace of play --3 hr 45 min.

It didn't hurt that I went birdie-birdie-20 ft par save to finish holes 16-18.

I’ve played the Hondo about a dozen times over the past 10 years. Today was the best shape I’ve ever seen it in. Greens were awesome. A little on the quick side, especially above the hole, and really smooth. Fairways are pretty good for a public course and the rough, although lush, was cut at a reasonable height. $54 with a cart is a pretty good value considering the course and it’s condition. If you happen to see a Hot Deal, jump on it because there’s not much better value out there!

I haven't played here in almost 20 years but it's just as good as I remember. The course is in pretty good condition, except for maybe the rock hard bunkers. I really enjoyed the round and will definitely play here more often. 4 hours for 18 holes is not too shabby.

I read good things about this course on here and tried it out on a perfect Sunday afternoon. Easy check-in at an our door starter table, hit some balls on their two-level driving range and got a driving cart included in our rate. Fun, interesting course full of rolling "mounds," and water hazards. Great conditions, just overall nice, fun, diverse and challenging course. Will definitely play here again!
