About
Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Pace of Play - amazing...and the Green as well.
Second time playing Rio Hondo. Course is in good shape while greens were in amazing shape. Pace of play was smooth. Never had to wait for group in front of us and the group behind us did not either. Overall great value. Staff was friendly. Amenities were ok...no alcohol.

Great afternoon
Great round of golf with three friends. Staff was friendly and helpful under these covid 19 conditions. Course was in great shape, especially the greens. Would highly recommend Rio Hondo to any avid golfer.

Great course.
Besides the neanderthal that played my ball twice on 2 separate holes just off the fairway it was a great round. Please if you hit your ball off the fairway and into the next unlike the neanderthal please wait until the group in the other fairway is done teeing off. Instead of like this idiot the whole foursome just driving out there 220 yards off the tee.

Great Course!!!
I loved this course. It has some strange elements like back to back par 5’s on the front as well as back to back par3’s. The latter caused some back up especially since it’s a long par 3, 215 yds from the white. So you know lots of people are going to miss it short. Overall the fairways were well groomed and the greens were kinda fast but still receptive. Definitely will play again even though it’s not exactly close to me!

The best course you didn’t know existed
I’ve played Rio Hondo many times in the past years, and my experience never changes. Greens are always true and well manicured, fairways always green, and the course always presents a different challenge. The staff is always great too. This time around, Michael the starter was friendly, helpful and quick to get us on the tee. I could play a million rounds on this course and never get bored of it!

5-some in front of us at 7:20am
Would have been a great round had they not let 5 amoeba’s out in front of us first thing in the morning. By hole 13 they were over 2 holes behind the group in front of them. I expect to play a 5.5 hour round on a Friday afternoon in Southern California but not when we tee off at 7:20am. Pretty aggravating waiting on 5-10 between every shot. The ranger wasn’t very nice but he needed to be more aggressive in getting them to hurry.

Great Golf
Honestly, the fairways were not in good shape. The greens were good, but too many dirt patches. What made my day today was the company and pace of play. We teed off as a 3-some at 6:20 am and finished at 10 am. We had fun with no one behind and no one in front. GREAT GOLF

Great layout
Wonderful layout and staff at Rio Hondo. We tee'd off early so pace was probably better than average. The course wasn't in great shape but also not too horrible. I think it's a fair value for what you pay.
