Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Above average municipal course with an amazing diner
Course layout is fair, greens are in decent condition, every third hole or so there was some ground under repair, but the fairways were decent. The diner makes amazing food

I like the layout of this course and players are friendly but the pace of play is way too slow. I enjoyed coming here but might be time from a break from here for faster rounds.

slow pace at Rio Hondo
Front group of 5 were enjoying while driving cart near green on quite few holes. Later found out that slowness were due to few groups in front of them. We stop playing after 16th hole.

Fun shorter track
I’ve played here multiple times the past couple years and in fact a couple times the past two weeks.
The greens are in good shape. The fairways are good also with a few bare patches which are to be expected as dry as it has been.
There are several tight holes which act as the courses defense since its relatively short.
I like the course and will definitely play it again.

Very friendly professionals
The pro shop could not have been more friendly. One of our players could not make it because of the high winds and they were very understanding. We got off on time and were done in under 4 hours. It was a great day
