Wasted potential
Now here's a semi private course, with a challenging layout from five different tees; the location is close enough to the water that breeze is a factor; decent pracrice facility; so what's missing?
First, the course condition is only fair. There is steady intrusion of of underbrush into the designed play areas; it is apparent that the grounds crew is attempting to recover areas though the result is a fairly rough, unfinished look, that is most certainly not playable. Additionally, weed intrusion has begun in earnest on several areas of each hole though most obvious on the green collars.
Next, several greens showed evidence of great stress in specific areas (bare spots). Last, pace of play was very slow, attributable primarily to a lack of a ranger.
In spite of these drawbacks (which are fixable), one can see the potential in the layout and the intended playability. With improved conditions and better play speed, Eagle Marsh would be worth the visit even at a higher price.
Very slow play
I liked the course but play was brutally slow. We decided to stop after 9 but once we got to the club house they suggested we replay the front 9 because it was fairly open at that point. So we took the offer and enjoyed the replay
AM T times
Great course. Great value.
Don't understand why there aren't more VALUE T times in the AM when there are few people using the course??
Most expensive course is an EMPTY one?!
Charlie
Greens good shape and fairways have tight lies but give you lots of roll! Some forced carries which create some thought shot making!
in front of us was a single in front of the single was a twosome since we were on the tee box with the single we joined with him things were little slower than they should have been...no one should be allowed to walk this course
Exceptional slow play. No marshalls on course to keep play moving along. Took five and half hours to play 18 holes.
Hooker and Slicer beware
I loved this course. Plenty of landing area for your drivers but very little rough before OB and/or Hazards.
Play to the front of the greens/flag and you will have fun. We did lose many balls.
Extremely slow!
They were running 20 minutes behind and then we had to wait a long time on every hole too! Very slow! Course had interesting layout!
Average at Best
Initially, the Pro Shop staff was friendly & professional. The Starter was quite busy but polite.
The driving range was "rough" and mostly dirt while the putting green was in better condition.
Overall, the condition of the course was "average". The tee boxes were in good shape as were the bunkers. Fairways weren't bad. The greens had some brown spots and were somewhat slow but generally rolled true.
Pace of play was SLOW. It took 4+40 to play a round. We waited on a slow group in front of us on 70% of our shots.
This isn't 'a bad layout but nothing special. If you get a "deal" from GolfNow or have a coupon, play the course. Otherwise, you can do better in the Stuart area.
Great conditions
New ball dispensers and water dispensers, carts had GPS,cushy seats, tee box markers new, bathrooms appeared renovated, lovely course for price. Will definitely return. Very impressed!
Eagle Marsh
This was an excellent value for the money. It was beautifully laid out with wide open fairways. Greens were very fast and took some time getting used to but were in terrific shape. Really enjoyed the day and would definitely play there again.
Excellent layout
Front definitely easier than back so get your pars and birdies early. The landing zones are more generous than they appear. That said there is plenty of water, vegitation, traps and OB to keep your attention. A couple of the par 5s are reachable in two but if you miss the penality can be severe. Two of the par 3s are 200+ from the tips. Warm weather will help fill in some of the thin areas in the fairways. Given the amount of play this course gets the greens are more than acceptable. Patience is required at peak playing times.
Bring balls
Nice tough position course with plenty of trouble to force you to think your way around we played it at about 6000 yards and did not hit the driver much at all I do want to go back now that I have an idea where to best try to position tee shots
Bring your ammo!
Most of the average ratings really should be 31/2*. Interesting layout, tight with water in play on several holes. If playing the course for the first time use the GPS system provided in the carts to find where the fairway runs out and the hazards begin. Pack along an extra sleeve or two of golf balls. Shots landing in the bushes are difficult to find. Pace of play was an issue. We had a 1215 tee time but didn't tee off until 1235, we finished at 510! Ouch!! In spite of this we will play the course again.
This course overbooked golfers
Our tee time was at 1:00 & we didn't tee off until 1:40. They overbooked golfers that particular day.
Eagle Marsh
Course was in good shape, moderate to fast greens. Weather was perfect. Challenging course, finally broke 80!!!
