Challenging and good course worth playing
If you want a challenging course then Eagle Marsh is a must play. There are a number of drives that must carry the marsh, the fairways are tight and the greens had a nice pace.
fun day
nice course friendly staff challenging
Unexpected Gem
First time playing this course and I had heard that it was under new ownership. That is good news. You can tell work has been done to improve the maintenance and facilities. Unfortunately the wet conditions in Florida have resulted in pretty soggy conditions and cart path only, but when it dries out this would be an excellent course to play. The layout is fine and the greens are in very good condition. The 18th hole is interesting with a choice of two greens, one fairly easy and the other requiring a long carry over the marsh. Compared to some of the other public access courses I have played in the area this was the best.
good course poor conditions because of weather
Eagle Marsh is a good course and well maintained but the course was saturated because of wet weather
Good Value
Course in good shape. A good challenge with lots of marsh and water.
Loved Eagle Marsh.ng .
Loved this course. Hope to get a chance to play when is has not rained a lot or is not raining. Was challenging but very playable....you had to think.
It was wet and so some paths were under water, 1 par 5 was shortened to a par 3, some areas were very soggy but it did NOT detract from our enjoyment. Course was in excellent condition other than the water which is the result of unpredictable rain. Carts new software for course particulars was exceptional.
Gentleman assisting us at the bag drop and at the end of the round could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Even say an alligator ...or was it a crocodile? Thanks for a great day!
Pretty & Pretty Challenging
A scenic & challenging course that you will be glad you came to play. A very unique 18th hole where you get your choice of greens.
On the improvement
The course was still wet but the conditions are greatly improved over just a few months ago. New ownership is investing in the entire club , new carts the greens are now in excellent shape . The course just doesn't drain well enough yet
Improvements
A pleasant surprise, we have played here a number of times in the past but not for a year or so. They have done a very nice job improving the Clubhouse as well as the overall appearance of the course. They still to do a little more work on the fairways but the greens, bunkers & Tees are sure heading in the right direction. We will be back.
Course is on its way back
After years of deteriorating conditions, the new owner is obviously trying to regain Eagle Marsh's former excellence. Course conditions are much better than last year and improving, the clubhouse has been redone and you get a sense that just good enough isn't good enough anymore.
Not what I expected
Course was not in great shape. A very wet course. Had to play a par 5 as a par 3 because fairway was flooded. Surprised it was so wet, seeing it had not rained in weeks. Will not play again. Better courses in the area that are cheaper and in better shape.
Horrible
Course was in horrible shape, holes closed, bridges closed, fairways and greens ripped up no notice from the employees or online was not worth playing spoke to house pro and he said it would be really nice next summer. I think they should have offered free rounds of golf for when the course is better but that will be last time for me!
Tough...
Very wet...it was obvious that they are having a drainage issues. All bunkers were under renovations, full of pile of sands and water, lots of hazard ang long
Yikes!
Traps under construction, course under water, horrible experience, cart paths flooded and we were yelled at for deiving off the paths!
Should close during construction
Golf now should check with courses. Golf course was unplayable greens were being aerated piles of sand in traps fairways a mess.Traveled 32 miles to course could only play 9.Could not take anymore.
wettest course I have ever played
I made a tee time and before we began we were told it was cart paths only. This should have been disclosed prior to me making a tee time. The course was extremely wet and the course itself was very difficult as there were any blind shots. A few times I thought I hit a goof shot only to find out there was a marsh that I hit into. The yardage markers were pretty much non existent so it was also challenging to get the correct yardage to the holes.
Nice course, wet conditions
Great course, challenging, but definetly a marsh. Had to drive cart thru standing water up to bottom of the cart. Cart path only due to wetness, but still an enjoyable round. Only criticism would be lack of yardage marking.
Don't play in rainy season
frat time playing this course, it is built on marsh, so with the summer rain it turns into swamps. It was an un pleasant surprise to hear the staff saying it is very wet and that it is cart path only, it was worse as I got out there.
The course is tough, so I would have loved to play it again since several holes were played with no idea where or how the fairway goes (no gps or yardage book either or yardage markers)
Lots of blind shots
Tough course, lots of blind shots, if it's your 1st time here you will struggle, in the middle of some summer repairs so not in the greatest of condition.
M&M Marsh on Marsh
Recommended by Dad when I came to visit as one of his favorite courses in the area years ago when he played. I read a few discouraging recent reviews but that didn't stop me from trying and I'm glad it didn't. Yes, maybe there should be a way of telling golfers maintenance issues beforehand, not just on this course but in all courses. However, it was great to see how much is being invested in this gem to bring it back to 100%. Still, it is very playable as both fairways and greens are in good condition. The bunkers are being worked on and it seems they are going to be done very soon. It is a very challenging course, great layout. I played with a member and that was great as it takes knowing the course to minimize failure. I also learned the locals term to refer to those holes that you have to drive over large marshes and again on your approach. M&M for Marsh on Marsh. I will be playing again very soon and I am looking forward to October or so when all the improvements are done. So, if you don't want a little inconvenience (boo-hoo) then wait a couple of months before you play this monster course.
