About
Heron Lakes Golf Club is home to two championship courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the Great Blue Course and the Greenback Course. Both utilize the rugged natural terrain in different ways, offering challenges that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. The Greenback Course is a versatile parkland layout that is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. It is a less demanding design than the Great Blue but it still has plenty of challenges in store. There are 86 bunkers framing the elevated greens and six ponds come into play throughout however the mature trees present the most prominent threat. The par 3s on this golf course can be especially tough. The more challenging elements are nicely balanced by large, inviting greens and generous landing areas.

Not recovering from the rains well at all
The greens are in terrible shape, they need to do some serious recovery on these greens before the heat hits them. Bumpy, bald spots and obvious disease issues.
Fairways are still really muddy and thin Coverage
Mid winter. Great greens.
Mid week play good pace. Since it was 35 degrees at start. Some areas leading into fairway are soaked and gur. But greens were amazing for this time of year. Fast and smooth! Great job from the crew.
Move the tees bsck
Ever since the pandemic you have moved the tees up. I know you want to increase pace of play but you have taken the challenge of the course out of it
Please move the tees back prior to pandemic times
Walkable city owned course with good shot variety
Title pretty much sums it up, the Greenback Course is a very walkable course that has enough shot/hole variety to keep the round interesting. Probably the best overall of the PDX city owned tracks.
