About
Heron Lakes Golf Club is home to two championship courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the Great Blue Course and the Greenback Course. Both utilize the rugged natural terrain in different ways, offering challenges that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. The Greenback Course is a versatile parkland layout that is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. It is a less demanding design than the Great Blue but it still has plenty of challenges in store. There are 86 bunkers framing the elevated greens and six ponds come into play throughout however the mature trees present the most prominent threat. The par 3s on this golf course can be especially tough. The more challenging elements are nicely balanced by large, inviting greens and generous landing areas.

didnt tell me they just sanded the greens
No one mentioned that the greens were just sanded when I called and made our tee time the day before. Charged full price and putting was a joke.
Spring is coming
Still some wet spots but getting much better day by day. Don’t expect any roll out on your drive but the greens were in good shape.
Muddy
Fairways were hard to make out from the rough and the whole course was a mud bogged.
Waste of money
This course should have never been opened for the public at this time, the tee box’s were not mowed the fairways was full of clumps of grass and had missed spots and the greens had way too much sand on them.
Greenback course
I would have given this course conditions 5 stars but unfortunately when I played the were aerating the greens and tee boxs. They were still in really good shape and let me honest, courses have to do this to maintain. It’s just a bummer that’s when I played. But the course was fun and awesome. I recommend. And I’ll be going back to play their other 18 hole course.
First time you did not post on golf now that you sanded band plugged the greenback. Big I would have known, I would not have booked. Very disappointed.
