SunRidge Canyon Golf Club

About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 6,823 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Beautiful hole! Photo submitted by danthomson on 09/25/2012
Great desert layout, poor condition for the price.
Great layout, trademark desert golf. Friendly staff. Not worth $300 compared to other desert options by course condition. Spend an extra $50 to play Boulders, Quintero, or others. This place is a good value in the warmer months and you can get on sub $100.
Nice layout but tricky
Tough layout with very tricky sloped greens.. any two put on these green is a big win..
Fairways also slope severely so take careful aim..
Tough track for sure..
This is a beautiful course winding through the natural canyon terrain. The course has many undulations and uneven lies. The hardest part of this course, IMO , are the tiered slopping greens.
I play to a 14+ hdcp and this was a difficult play.
Staff was great.
Nice Course But Not Worth $300 per person
Very nice layout. Best holes are the last 6. Compared to other courses we played in the area, we were disappointed with the course for the amount of money we paid to play! We would recommend the course to friends, but only if they could get a reasonable rate. We were also stuck behind a bachelor party of 7 slow, loud and very drunk young men who were blaring music which was not enjoyable for us. Wont play it again if we return to Scottsdale.
Best Course in Fountain Hills
This is the course to play in Fountain Hills! Perfect blend of fun and challenging. Was in perfect shape
Great course with interesting layout
Great course. Not a long one but challenging on the back-9 if you are playing for the first time. Fairways are in great shape. So were tee boxes and greens rolling good.
Staff were OK. They pushed me to start 20 min before my tee time, although turned out to be good as I played with a 2-some couple that were very friendly. It's at least worth $50-60 lesser than the rate I paid.
Excellent Conditions
8:03am tee time. Finished at 11:50am. Got paired with two some and the 3 of us never saw the group ahead or behind us. Course was in incredible shape! Such a fun course!
New course and new challenges
It was my first time playing this course. They just allowed carts on the fairways which was helpful for pace of play. Fairways were great but there was little roll out because of the newly seeded fairways. It is imperative to stay out of the desert or it will cost you a stroke. Greens were in great condition as well. Lots of undulations. It is a course I want to play again
First time at SunRidge Canyon
Practice facility was good - no mats. Staff was helpful and supportive. Pace of play was great initially but we encountered some delays. The course and greens were in great condition. A couple greens had some repairs. The views from the course are amazing.
Fun layout. Challenging holes. Greens are a litter slow. Staff great
Nice Course and Clubhouse
Great course…
Only issue was Marshall suggested we were behind by two minutes while we were repeatedly waiting on the group in front of us…
Course was just recovering from punched greens, but they were in reasonable shape…. Traps were a bit thin on sand, Otherwise, I’d play here again…
July surprise
What a pleasant surprise to find the course in such great condition at the end of July.
The greens were in great shape, as were the tea boxes and the fairways
Bad Taste…
First bad impression was having to pay an extra $9 fee that was different than what GolfNow said would be due at the course…the pro shop gave a rather dubious explanation blaming this on GolfNow go figure.
I loved the track and all of the practice areas…I was struck about how the golfer is forced to have a plan of attack for pretty much every tee shot…it’s a hard course and the back 9 played too hard for 90% of golfers…it’s uphill into the wind there is no way to reach several greens in regulation…honestly they should make the course a par 74 it’s that unfair.
I will be back when I can afford it…the draconian rule postings for no alcohol from off site and no carts in the parking lot rubbed me wrong…I play a lot of courses where a guy can drive the carts to the car good grief !
