Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Las Sendas Golf Club's course, opened in 1995 and among the toughest U.S. courses. Two Zagat surveys have ranked it among the top 50 U.S. golf courses.

Las Sendas Golf Club offers a desert course demanding top play as it takes golfers through the Usery Mountains, with a vista of Phoenix as the tradeoff for managing rough land close to 1,800 feet above the desert. Jones didn't create a course with whimsical decorations like railroad ties, and he didn't build targets. The golf course is for those who strategize, mapping the way from tee to green.

After a round at Las Sendas Golf Club, head to Las Sendas Grille, for the full bar, including wines from California, Australia and Europe, as well as four tap beers and domestic and imported bottles.

This course has amazing views

This course is quality at its best from course conditions to amazing staff. I have played here now four times and each time does not disappoint. The Mountain View’s are amazing. The greens roll true from hole 1 through 18. I can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic Course

Course was in great shape for the time of year and heavy the week prior. Very friendly place and great value for the green fee.

First Time Playing

Played at 7:20am before rates went up for the day. Finished the round in almost exactly 4 hours and didn’t see the group in front or behind us all day. Course was in amazing shape, greens were incredible considering everything else in the valley is shaggy and slow. Putts rolled true and greens were moderately fast. I hate how it took me 4 years to finally play here. One of my new favorites. If you are thinking about playing, just do it!

Grumpy Starter & Ranger

Another tale of a grumpy starter and ranger that will result in us never playing this course again. Our tee time was at 7:50, but the starter interrupted our warm-up to tell us we had to move up ten minutes. Then he yelled at us with a full range from 50 yards away for hitting drivers off the grass instead of the mats — even though you can’t tee up on the mats. We started the round and enjoying the day. There was no one in front of us or behind us the entire round, yet on hole 7 the ranger told us we needed to speed up play. We checked the GPS and were actually seven minutes ahead of pace, and this was with it being cart path only. Still, no one was behind us. When we reached the green on hole 9, the same starter was waiting and told us we had to skip hole 10 and finish it after 18 due to “pace of play.” After finishing the hole, we looked back — and still no one on the tee box. Very frustrating and we felt like we were in some type of prank. We wrapped up our round (cart path only) in 4 hours and 10 minutes at the end of the day. The course itself is a great track, but the service was terrible. With so many options nearby, we won’t be back.

Beautiful layout

Tee boxes are nice Fairways are great. Green’s were great but now we have talk about the SANDTRAPS no sand just pavement with a crust of sand on top ruined the day.

Time for a reality check

Play here whenever I’m in AZ , love the layout , however this time the post- overseed conditions were horrible .. softball sized clods of decaying grass everywhere in the rough and around greens , mower decks were not leveled so grass uneven throughout . If I were a member here I’d be angry and looking for a new greenskeeper . Why would they mow right after monsoon rains and create tire damage around bunkers ? Despite a 4:45 round due to cart path only , I’m more upset with the terrible conditions and painfully slow greens that should have been rolled . The poorly executed maintenance begs for turf disease and insect infestation during peak season . One of my favorite courses , but can’t look beyond the lazy greens keeping so I’m not sure when I’ll come back .

Great value

The course is challenging especially from the tips.

There are a few spots that are being worked on the fairway, but overall condition is good.

Great value especially hot deals.

Challenging

Las Sendas is nearing the end of the summer grass season and was a little rough around the edges. We enjoyed the variety of holes and shot making requirements, but were disappointed with the lack of signage on the course regarding tee boxes or yardage. Our cart gps didn’t work, which normally wouldn’t be an issue but with the number of blind shots and fairways running out on doglegs, we were challenged to hit to appropriate areas. We lost a few balls we were sure would be in fairways. Greens and fairways were decent, traps were a little thin on sand, tee boxes were pretty beat up.

Challenging and elevation changes. Not flat.

I keep returning. Picture from 18th teeing ground tells it all. Enjoy the play, enjoy the vistas.

Course was in decent shape, my only complaint would be the pace of play. The two groups in front of us were pretty slow. The ranger spoke them but the pace didn't change. I will be back.

Tees good.

Fairways being prepared for overseed but still playable.

Beautiful course and challenging.

Lots of rabbits and lizards.
