About
Located in Mesa, Desert Sand Golf Course is an executive length course with a short layout that is most suitable for beginners, but it is also a good place for golfers of all skill levels to work on their short game skills. Due to its flat terrain, the course is easy to walk with few elevation changes. The greens are remarkably fast and water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also sand bunkers scattered throughout the course. The Desert Sand Golf Course facility offers a chipping area and putting green and it is also home to a golf school.

Good first experience
It’s the end of summer which is tough on the grass, but they have done a good job of keeping a playable surface on the course. Far far better than Arizona Golf Resort.
We only played the front 9 and the holes were kind of short, but for my wife and I as new golfers it was great for our skill level. We were a bit worried about holding up play with our skills so we played scramble to keep moving. The people in front of us were beyond slow. The starter tried to move us ahead of them but the guy I demanded they go first. They took 5 shots to reach the green on a 165yd par 3, then 3 puts once on the green. On a par 4 they were in an oncoming fairway picking up other players balls. They were a gong show after being a jerk to the starter. Not the courses fault, just fun to write about it.
The up side to the gong show in front of us was after the first 3 holes my wife and I did not feel like we were holding anyone up and we could relax and hit more of our own shots.

Could be better but good for price
Good price, and good pace of play it could have been better it seems like the regulars on the course disregard some of the regular pace of play rules. 4 some in front of us would drive around looking for their balls for the minutes then sat in the middle of the 18th fairway stopped and had a full conversation with players on the 11th hole.

Rough conditions
The greens were nice. The rest of the course was rough, not well maintained. There are no amenities at this course. Great price .

Spectacular Greens
It had been awhile since I played Desert Sands. I took a friend of mine who had never been there we thought the course was excellent and the greens were amazing. We had a blast and will definitely return.

Good course
I like the course. It's kept in good condition. I would say that the prices are "good" , but not great. I can't say enough about the staff. They are always very friendly and helpful.

Best Value course
For the price, it’s really hard to be Desert Sands. Solid amount of par 4s, course is in pretty decent condition, staff is friendly and it’s never too busy. It’s my go to value course in the Valley.

Summer golf
This course was in very good condition for summer months. No one else was playing due to heat. We’re just thankful they are open.

Late staff
My tee time was scheduled for 5:48, there were earlier tee times as well and when I arrived there was no staff in the pro shop. Someone showed up around 6:30 to start checking people in. There was no apology for them being late. Then after checking in I went to get the cart and the employee who getting people into carts was to busy talking to someone else and didn’t acknowledge me when I simply asked if it mattered which cart I took. Disappointed in the customer service, a simple apology would have been fine, or charge my son for a junior rate instead of full price would have been good to. I scheduled an early tee time to beat the heat.

Not bad for the price
Played this past Sunday not to bad. Fairways need work but greens were in really good shape. Nice course for short game at a great price.

Avoid sunday morning tee tines
No way of knowing ahead of time but there were a dozen groups ahead of us playing best ball and the waiting was horrible. At the 8th hole there were 3 sets of 4somes waiting to tee off while we were putting on hole #7. The groups were antagonizing/teasing each other which took each person even longer to hit. Sometimes we would see them all huddled around not even playing, just chatting...green empty. Twosome behind us left after 9, two individuals that played with us because we weren't moving ended up leaving on 14
