About
Located in Mesa, Desert Sand Golf Course is an executive length course with a short layout that is most suitable for beginners, but it is also a good place for golfers of all skill levels to work on their short game skills. Due to its flat terrain, the course is easy to walk with few elevation changes. The greens are remarkably fast and water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also sand bunkers scattered throughout the course. The Desert Sand Golf Course facility offers a chipping area and putting green and it is also home to a golf school.

Golfing Desert Sands
The first thing we noticed was the friendliness of the staff. The course fairways were cut a little long but the greens were quick, true and challenging, for us anyway. They had a lot of contours. It was our first time on this course and the concrete cart path made it very easy to maneuver the layout. It is not a real long course and only has one par five, if I remember correctly and a number of par 3’s. But that worked well for my wife and I as we are senior golfers. Very few water hazards and no sand traps, also fine with us! We were paired up with a father/son combo and had a wonderful time!
The pace was so backed up that we only played 10 holes and decided that the wait between each hole was too frustrating and left.
We have golfed here many times before and had never experienced this much waiting.

Greens are impossible
The course was dried out and the fairways were not in great shape. The rough is thick and difficult. But all of the greens are crowned. Unless you hit your shots absolutely perfectly, it's almost impossible to keep your ball on the greens. They roll off in all directions. Pros might enjoy greens like that but our group of intermediate golfers were a but frustrated by the end.
The best part of this golf course is the selection of merchandise in the pro shop.

Course has nice Fairways.
Fairways were nice and greens were in very good condition. Tee boxes were very poor. Most of them were very uneven with no much grass where the tee off markers were located. The pro shop staff were not very friendly. The course winds through a housing development and crosses roads several times including one major roadway.

Course Marshall is very rude
We were partnered up with another 2 players and one was a beginner player. Our pace was a little behind. We let a group of 3 behind us play through since we knew they were playing quicker than us. Around the 13th hole the Marshall came over to us and just started yelling at us because we were behind. There was no warning, no asking us to simply skip a hole, just started yelling at us telling us to golf faster. We did skip a hole and then the group behind us never caught up. If we were warned or asked nicely we would have had a much better experience. After that encounter it ruined the rest of the round. There are several other courses in the area where this does not happen.

Pace of play was quite slow, need to kick some slow players in the butt.

Nice inexpensive track
Shorter executive style layout with decent conditioning. Routing is nice no back and forth course winds around the property. Staff was friendly and helpful for a first timer here. Will be back.

Short course
Tee boxes need leveled out. Short course by design, but still fun. It get a lot of play. Staff was very friendly!
