About
Located in Mesa, Desert Sand Golf Course is an executive length course with a short layout that is most suitable for beginners, but it is also a good place for golfers of all skill levels to work on their short game skills. Due to its flat terrain, the course is easy to walk with few elevation changes. The greens are remarkably fast and water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also sand bunkers scattered throughout the course. The Desert Sand Golf Course facility offers a chipping area and putting green and it is also home to a golf school.

Slow play
Slow play, ,length is shorter for older players and not long hitters. Greens are tough, hard to stop it on the green.
Brutally slow play
Course was relatively well kept, greens were very challenging. Paid for 18, quit after 9, after 2 hours and 15 minutes( with only 4 holes being par 4's). Group behind us had 5 or 6 players, and that wasn't the only large group out there.

Popular snowbird course
I play here often, it's a well maintained and fairly easy course. Staff is friendly and one of the more reasonably priced courses. The one drawback is it's popular with the older snowbird crowd so the pace is often quite slow.

Slow Play
3 groups on the tee at #3 and 4 times more before the end of the round. No ranger in sight.

Moved pretty good for primetime
Beautiful 70 degree afternoon in sunny Arizona in mid January. You have to expect a full course. Which it was. But carts were available and we tee-d off about 10min late. We had to wait at 3-4 holes, but not bad. Much much better than the day before on another course.
I think for a shorter 18 course, you can not beat it, for the course itself and the great price. .

Very Disappointed
Got there 15 minutes early to tee off. Waited 1/2 hour to tee off. Pace of Play was extremely slow. Got to the 8th hole and there were 2 or 3 sets of golfers waiting to tee off. We paid to play 18 holes knowing that we may only get in 15-16 holes but we departed after just playing 7 holes. Greens are extemely difficult mounded up on every green.

Well maintained
Booked this course not knowing anything about it. I was surprised when I showed up and saw that it was a course in a Mobile Home Community. The staff from the employees in the pro shop, the starter, the ranger and the employee assigning the carts were excellent. I was a bit worried when my round started as I was paired with an elderly women who I was told had Parkinson's. She was actually not too bad. She hit it straight but short. The first nine holes took about 1 hr 45 min. I guess not too bad for a par 3 par 4 course. The foursome playing in front of us was the problem. After nine my partner called it a day and the two groups playing in front of me allowed me to play through and I played the round in 3.5 hours. Very little water on the course and not a grain of sand. The only other issue that concerned me was that after playing the 14th you need cross a very busy Sossaman Rd. to get to the 15th and then back over the same road for the 18th hole. A bit dangerous if you ask me. The overall condition of the course was in excellent shape. Especially the fairways and the greens. I'm a snowbird new to Arizona and I have played several courses in the month that I have been in Az. and this by far was the nicest course. Just be aware that this course is played by a lot a senior players and play will be a bit slow.
