The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Pete Dye would not be impressed if he saw the course today.

Nice day

We enjoyed playing the course. It has a lot of character and different challenging holes. On the fairways and greens things were in pretty good condition. Off the fairway, the grass was marginal, or not at all.

Overall, compared to other courses in prime season, this course is reasonable for the money, and nice as a mix in if you are in town multiple days for golf.

Very nice Desert course

Nice course with tough, but true greens. In great condition. A target course for sure. I used a lot of irons off the tee box, not really a "grip it and rip" course unless you're really accurate with a driver and you don't drive over 300 yards. I had fun with the challenges presented.

Dye-Yes,: Trap Maintenance-No

As with other Pete Dye courses, this has a great layout with lots of RR ties and difficult bunkers. But the bunkers apparently had not been touched in weeks. All were like concrete! Would be 5 stars, but without bunkers it gets down to 3. Also, no ranger or beverage cart.

First time playing

Stayed at airbnb in area wanted to play the course. Hard to find convenient tee time in Feb. Course needs work on tee boxes. Pace of play was slow. Great practice area, pro shop was closed when finished would like to purchase items. Oh well. Will play again when in the area.

Pete Dye gem in the desert.

I loved this course. The course is sneaky tough. The greens are very challenging. Great layout!

Pace of Play Slow

RMRGC was in generally good condition. Almost all tee boxes need some TLC. Fairways rolled well, except where some sprinklers were leaking, causing some standing water. Greens were fast and true, though a couple holes had a little roughness. Sand traps were inconsistent (some with more sand, whereas others only had a top dressing, with hard pack beneath), making it difficult to discern how to play the ball. The front 9 was played in less than 2 hours for our threesome; however, the last 4 holes were played at a snail’s pace, with upwards of three groups waiting at a tee, destroying all momentum of play. The result was 2 hours and 40 minutes for the back 9. Never saw a marshal to help the situation.

Too many too much

This course asks a premium to play. We started 20 minutes late then waited on almost every hole. No course Marshall anywhere to be found. I’m just guessing they push groups out and hope everyone can actually finish their round.

Conditions were OK but not a value for the money they are asking.
