The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Decent Course but Slow Play

The pace of pay was very slow due to a member and guest tournament. We waited at every hole on the back nine, often arriving prior to the previous group teeing off. It would have been nice to know at time of booking that there was a tournament.

70% there...

The greens were as good as I've seen them at RMR yesterday. It's rough around the edges so you're going to have some lies you didn't bargain on... That said it's a Dye layout and a shotmaker's course, so if you like a little challenge tee it up at the back and enjoy!

Great track

Course in very good condition fairways and greens are excellent the roughs a little thin but a lot of it is desert. Very challenging Pete Dye layout. Very friendly staff, teed off at 1:30 and only saw the cart girl on the second hole would have liked to see her another time. My new home course!

Snooty club people.

Got paired with some club members, they just had bad attitudes. Nearly everyone I spoke to hated that an “outsider” was playing the course.

Pete Dye Challenge

I like this course, and have played it multiple times, however yesterday was a tough day to play the course. Greens are hard, making it almost impossible to get a ball to check up. On four different occasions well hit wedges into the greens bounced off the green into very difficult lies.

Fairways are dry and hard, and the sand traps are average at best. A little water on the course would take my grade up to a 5. Will play again as it as a great value.

Gone downhill

Wow what a difference a month makes on Course conditions.

Greens were so SLOW it was painful

Sand traps: most had NOT been raked before play. A lot of grass and weeds growing in the trap

Carts were filthy

Guys will not clean your clubs after golf and place on rack for car pickup, unless you tip them Before they do anything. Lazy staff

Crowded

The course was crowded. The group behind us should have been kicked off the course. They hit into us 6 times. They hit onto us on a par 3. We called the Pro Shop after that. They sent 2 young men out to talk to them. The group was a man with his 2 teenaged children. After that hole they hit into us 2 more times. That could have started a fight. When they are hitting golf balls at us it's called assault with a deadly weapon and Red Mountain would have been liable if they would have injured us.

Course conditions nearly unacceptable

Hard pack even in fairways make hitting Dye's elevated greens (also hard) nearly impossible. Second time playing this course and won't do it again. Course was dry almost like it was already 100* daily, so very disappointed.

Add that to a match play tournament in front of us (resulting in slow play) and the $130ish greens fees, definitely feel like it wasn't a great value.

Great layout; really nice scenery; a real desert course

Really enjoyed my round. Course design is better than most courses. Fairways and rough were lacking in grass at times leaving lies on hard surface. Sand traps lacked sand. Greens have alot of grain,,,be sure to look for the grain our you will leaving downhill puts quite short. Overall a very fun round.

Very slow play

We had a 4 ball in front of us with a 5th person as a rider. We were told by the starter that one of the 4 some was an employee and the other three were members and the 5th person was injured and not playing. They were extremely slow to the point we could not keep a rhythm. On several holes the injuries person would park the cart in the fairway and hobble around. On many tee boxes there were three groups waiting to tee off. We called the pro shop and they sent out a marshal Help a little but not much. Worst round ever which is a shame because the courts was in very good shape.
