The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

A tough but interesting course unlike most others in the valley

The course is in very good shape considering the intense summer heat. The greens and tee boxes are well-maintained. Some portions of the fairways are browned out but not to point that it would affect your play. The staff are very helpful. The pace of play is dictated by how well you play and not by other golfers! It's not an easy tract. It is your standard Pete Dye course with numerous bunkers, undulating greens and some rolling fairways. You have to use course management here.

The greens were in terrific shape! The tee boxes were in great shape as well, but the fairways were very dry and burnt in several spots. Overall it did not detract from the playing experience. I would play this course again and would like to play it in the fall or spring.

Early Morning June round to be the Heat

Really enjoyed an early morning round to be high June heat. This challenging track at Red Mountain Ranch golf club lives up to its Pete ‘Diabolical’ Dye name if you find yourself in green side Bunkers…

Hot June Red Mountain Round

A difficult track with elevated fast greens on this Pete ‘diabolical’ course, especially getting out of green side bunkers… a real short game challenge…

Meh…

No doubt at one point this was a really good East Valley track. But, it’s not hard to see that the club has been unable or unwilling to make some needed capital improvements. Notable, is the cart paths, bunkers, and transition areas. That said, it was still a cool course to play. Lots of dog legs. Fairways were maintained and the greens were smooth and held. Glad I played it, but considering the drive; I would probably look elsewhere.

Best value in phoenix area

Played this course on a Sunday at 10am on memorial day weekend. Round took 4.5 hours, but I was playing with my date and a random who are both 30+ handicappers. The driving range and chipping area was perfect and the course itself was in great shape. The greens weren't very receptive, but that's AZ golf in the mid 90s. I shot a 78, which is where I expect to be for Pete dye courses. Try not to go long on the greens, there are bunkers everywhere. Which is my one complaint, they need to loosen the bunkers up a bit, good luck holding a green from a firm bunker with no ability to spin the ball.
