Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

Transition to summer grass.
They were transitioning over to the summer grass, so conditions were not great.
not you everyday course
If you like challenges, then this course is made for you. Elevations, dog legs, fairway traps and natural hazards are built into this course. While I completed the round in less than three hours, expect to lose a ball or two or three but old adage of hitting the ball straight was written for Superstition Springs. Throughly enjoyable!!
Hello! Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent experience with us. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the layout and experience. We hope to see you again soon!
Is this course going out of business?
I have played this course five or six times over the last 18 months and was shocked to see the condition it was in. The rough was basically dirt, the fairways were mostly burnt out as if they haven’t been watered, the tee boxes were chewed up and the greens had dead spots everywhere. This used to be one of my favorite courses in the valley but at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were going out of business. Every lake except for one was completely dry and it looks terrible. The staff was friendly, they had a beverage cart running, and a grill at the turn, which was all great, but unless the course conditions improve drastically, I will not be returning.
Been awhile
Have not been to this course for quite sometime. Greens were in great shape. Some of the fairways had no grass in areas. Ponds need some work too much Duck weed and smelled terrible. In areas you had to stay on the cart path and walk to your ball because they were trying to get the grass to grow. Had a good time anyway.
Hi rlk767, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the greens. We appreciate your patience as we work on enhancing summer transition conditions. We hope to see you back soon for another round of golf.
Wouldn’t recommend
Fun and challenging layout. Smelled like sewer on every hole and fairways and rough were in bad shape. Greens rolled nice. Wouldn’t recommend even at the 40$ afternoon price. I’m sure it was nice in its day but it’s been obviously neglected.
Hi Robert, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience. Our grounds team continues to elevate transition conditions as we transition from winter ryegrass to summer bermudagrass. We hope you return to a more enjoyable experience!
Excellent, good value!
I love this course. I played this week and last. I thought the course was in great shape. I love that the driving range is on real grass, not mats! I think it’s a challenging course. Every single staff person was very nice & courteous. The only course I’ve played that has green fees well under $100, and I have played nearly every course in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Fountain Hills. This is by far the best value, as the course itself is fairly difficult, in wonderful condition; grass on the fairways & greens was awesome. All areas are mowed perfectly. One complaint I do have is about the sand traps. The sand is hard & is more like dirt. One the other hand, I have yet to play a course in Arizona that has decent sand. Even at Whirlwind, with $250 green fees, the sand still sucked.
Hello and thank you for your detailed review of your recent experience at our golf course. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the challenging course, the condition of the fairways and greens, and the friendly staff. We appreciate your feedback about the sand traps and will take that into consideration for future improvements.
Coursed should be closed permanently and repurposed
So sorry to say, but the course should be closed permanently. It may have been in good condition at one time but it is badly in need of a major overall or repurposed for other use. There are plenty of other choices in the greater Phoenix area.
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We appreciate your input and will take it into consideration as we continuously strive to improve. If you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to reach us at kjones@@arcisgolf.com or 480-207-7814 for support.
Decent Course Bad Experience
5.5 hour round and we started before 9 am. After we were backed up 3 groups on the 5th tee, I called to have the ranger come around. We were told he would be out shortly to speed things up. We never saw the ranger the entire day. The starter told us if we were hungry at the turn call the restaurant at the 8th tee to place an order. We tried to call and sat on hold for 10 minutes before continuing on with our day and no food. At the turn we saw the starter again and let him know about the terrible pace of play. He radio'd our concerns in but this seemed to mean nothing as we tee'd off into the back nine 2 hours and 50 minutes into our round. The Ranger still never came. At some point we were able to see that there was a group probably 5 groups ahead that had at least 2 full empty holes in front of them. Could have been an easy fix, but the ranger was doing his own thing I guess. I talked up the course to some friends as I had played here before and thought the value was great compared to most courses in the Valley, but for no food available and a 5 hour 30 minute pace of play I will take my $100 elsewhere in the future.
Hi hshipp, thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for the experience you had at our course. We take pace of play and customer service seriously and continue to address these issues interally. We appreciate your loyalty and hope to have the opportunity to make it up to you in the future.
Slow play
Our first 9 took 3.5 hours. We were following a 2 person scramble and they were so slowww. At one point 4 groups were backed up.
They did allow us to do front nine again or would have allowed us to get a rain check for second nine. It took us 1 hour 20 minutes to do second 9.
The sand traps were hard and some of fairways were getting brown. Is a very challenging golf course but I picked a very bad time to golf.
We apologize for the slow pace of play you experienced during your visit. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we're glad to hear that we were able to offer a solution for the second nine holes. We hope you'll give us another chance in the future.
Fun! Greens fast
Very interesting Back 9. Fun must play it a second time to know back9 bettering

Overbooked
All was well until the 16th hole. We joineca twosome there and went to the 17th hole and found a 3 done on the fair way and a 4some waiting to hit before w we could ever ger ready to hit so we went to 18 and found 3 foursomes there so we called it a day.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We apologize for the inconvenience you encountered on the course. We will address this issue with our team to ensure a better flow of play in the future. We hope to see you again soon for a more enjoyable round.
