Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

Hot Springs
Golfing for me was more of a challenge. Lots of difficult hole layouts.
Great people under rough circumstances
The course is in tough shape. They were upfront about it and the fees reflected it. They had a sprinkler line break during the hottest stretch of summer. The staff were outstanding, the pace of play was awesome and I will definitely go back when the course recovers. Money well spent, and kudos to the proshop and outside service staff!
Hi Monbro, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your understanding regarding the course conditions and are glad to hear that you still enjoyed your experience with our staff and pace of play. We look forward to welcoming you back when the course is at its best again!
Bad conditions and worst starter.
I have played here a couple times. The starter is the worst part of the day. He acts like he is the center of the golf world and needs to shut-up. He talks for 5 minutes before you can pass him and gives you nothing notable. This is not how I want to spend my money. The course is in fare condition for the heat and money. It is a very blue collar hacker course. The positives are the bag drop workers, cart girl and restaurant employees were really good.
Hi Dennis, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the experience you had with the starter and will address this issue internally. We're glad to hear that you had positive interactions with our staff in other areas. We appreciate your input and hope to serve you better in the future.
Not the same
This course has gone downhill. No maintenance, poor amenities. Surprising this is still an Arcise course. Just sad. Find somewhere else to play.

If this is your only opinion stay Home
I’ve played this course in the past so I had no issue with booking the round. I must say this course is in horrible shape. I’ve never seen a course play this bad unless they were condemning it. The fairways had no grass, the bunkers were unplayable and the water was drained from the water hazards . Tee box’s were either dirt or overgrown. It was bad, this was the first time I ever took pictures to document how bad course conditions are. Don’t waist you time or money. It’s sad to see this course play and look like this.

Bumpy greens and dead fairways
Oh boy. Not good. The course is dead pretty kiche everywhere. I know it's summer, but trust me,lots more courses that are better for the money. Fairways were hit or miss rocks, gravel, dry dirt, mud, crab grass or every once in a while normal grass. Putting? Forget about it. The greens make your ball bounce like a pinball and you lose velocity quickly because of that. The water hazard are all dried up and smell bad. Unfortunately, a once gorgeous course has turned into a steaming pile
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Please know that your feedback is important to us and crucial to improving the areas we've missed the mark. The team will continue to elevate the transition to Summer bermudagrass Conditions. We hope you visit again to see a drastic improvement.
One of the worst courses I have seen in AZ
The course conditions were horrific. I expect the greens to be bumpy in July in AZ. But the rest of the course was horrible. Tees were not flat--uphill, sidehill. Some places had grass--likely where a sprinkler was placed--and it was so thick it was unplayable. The rest of the course had more dirt and weeds than grass. Very little sand in the bunkers (and that is being generous)
Hi RDalrymple219, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're disappointed to hear that you weren't satisfied with the course conditions. Your feedback is important to us and we will address these issues to ensure a better experience for all our guests in the future.
Water Please!
Golf Courses in the East Valley seem to be a contrast between the “haves” and the “have-nots”. And SSGC is definitely a “have-not” when it comes to course conditions. It seems they have too much grass and not enough water. Or they have several areas that are not working properly, as there are hoses and sprinkler heads in some of the fairways. Who knows, but for $70+ in July, I would expect more. Maybe that’s just “how it is” now. But it’s still a shame compared to what this course used to be 10-15 years ago…
Hi Sonoraman6, thank you for sharing your feedback on your experience at our course. We appreciate your insights on the course conditions and will pass this along to our maintenance team for review. We strive to provide a top-notch experience for our guests and will use your feedback to make improvements. Please know our management team and beyond is monitoring our course conditions regularly and we are in process of ensuring our course can meet the $70 expectation in July. Our 191 acres of turn require regulatory watering and intention of which we believe we will improve immedietly. Thanks for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back in the near future.
Disappointed!
I wanted to take my son to one of the nicer courses in our area because the rates are low during the summer. We were both disappointed on how bad the condition of the course was. The 14th hole was closed, many of the holes were roped off so you couldn’t drive to your ball, the rough was so long in areas that you could be right next to your ball and never find it, and they lakes were dry. I’ve played plenty of courses in the summer that are still maintained, but it seemed like they just let this one go. Hopefully they can correct this. It has always been one of the nicer courses in this area.
Hi u314165158048, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear about your recent experience at the course. We appreciate your insights and will be sure to address these concerns with our team to ensure a better experience for all our patrons. Please know our agronomy team is working around the clock to monitor conditions and ensure we are matching the intention of the golfer. As a father myself I understand the desire to get out and play a course this summer with your son and have expectations to grow him as a golfer and create memories. Please email me personally at abeaverson@arcisgolf.com as I would love to treat you and your son to another round in the future when our conditions match our intention. I look forward to hearing from you!
Decent shape for the time of year
What staff they have are good, the pro shop, cart guys and beverage cart. They don’t have a starter or marshals so you can wind up with a foursome followed by a twosome, followed by a single, followed by another twosome. It’s probably the best they can do given the time of year and quantity of golfers. I had fun as the single and enjoyed the round. Many bunkers were awful and the best were so so. Like many other courses around the valley.
Hi 98azelda, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your round overall and had a good experience with our staff. We appreciate your comments about the pace of play and course conditions, and we will take them into consideration for future improvements.
Room for improvement.
Played on june 18, 2024. Course conditions were pretty rough, pace of play was slow (5 hr round). Wasn't worth the price premium paid for Father's, but decent value at a lower price, around $40-45.
Hi Randy, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your experience was not exceptional. We appreciate your input on course conditions and pace of play and will apply efforts to improve these areas immediately. We hope you'll give us another chance in the future.
Slow
It was very slow, and horribly backed up! No Marshall was present to push the pace
Hello, and thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the slow service and lack of Marshal presence. Your comments are valuable to us and will be shared with our team for improvement. We hope to better serve you in the future. Please know a phone call to the pro shop can always have the Player Assistant/Marshal sent to your area of the course right away.
