Painted Mountain Golf Club
About
The Painted Mountain Golf Club is a challenging desert-style course with a variety of different tees to accommodate every age group and skill level. The course offers a lengthier challenge from the first hole, a par-5 dogleg right, to the last, which requires an approach shot over water in order to reach the green. The Painted Mountain Golf Club, in addition to the course, is also home to the John Jacob's Golf School.

It’s Bad
I’ve played here several times and I don’t expect much from this course. But right now it’s bad even by Painted Mountain standards. Patchy fairways and tee boxes, sparse areas of grass with lots of dirt and some muddy areas. They were punching greens today and had no warnings when booking. So I had to skip several holes to get ahead of the crew. Maybe they didn’t expect anyone that far on the course yet, but most of the back 9 had the sprinklers on either in the fairways or around the greens, so I either had to skip the tee shot and drop in the fairway past the sprinklers or play up to my approach shot and pick up. Last 4 holes had no cups or flags, they were pulled out and laying beside the green. Staff has always been nice enough, though you should play early because the pace does get out of hand later in the day. Starter offered to let me go through again, but honestly I preferred to just head home. I will say the greens that weren't punched yet were slow but rolled really nicely.
Do No Go No
The course was completely unplayable and even the pro shop suggested we not play as both fairways and greens were being plugged and aerated. GolfNow gave no warning online when I booked the tee time. However, the pro shop was extremely friendly and gave us a 45-day rain check to come back and play at any time. My playing partner and I thought that was extremely generous of them.
Now we can even play at any time and don't even have to worry about a hot deal.
Good value
Greens very fast and in tough shape… lots of burnout and brown on the fairways… fun track otherwise… fair course for a differ like myself- and the price point was solid… disappointed that the restaurant/bar was closed
Arizona Summer golf
Hot weather. You get a lot of roll in the fairways. Greens are excellent especially for this time of year. Played 18 holes in 2.5 hours. Could have been quicker if I had a few less strokes. 3 of the par threes were having repairs to the tee boxes and were shortened. That made for some fun short shots into the greens.
Nice round, working to improve
Enjoyed the course and the pace. Par 3 tee boxes are under remodel but rest of course is playable. Only issue was with a “golf mom” who was with her spawn behind us. We tried to let them play through but the mom said “I enjoy watching my son hit into you”.????? Will be back to our local go to spot soon.
God day of golf, but didn't like the shortened par 3's.
Par 2.5s
We showed up at the course. There was no driving range. Once on the course ALL the Par 3s were having the tee boxes redone. So every Par 2 @ 100 yards. No one told us this in the club house.
The greens were in great shape and the course is in pretty good shape. If it was not for the lack of communication about Par 2.5s we would have been alight.
Fast summer golf
Course was firm, greens were thick and slow. Tee boxes of the par 3’s are under remodel so all are in the 70-85 yard range. Even with these issues, fun place to play. Fast round, nice staff all getting to practice short game.
No surprises
Have played this course several times, no surprises, u get what see no more, it's not the best course nor the worst in the area, disappointed that beverage cart has no beer specials like the past but this is at every course have played in the valley, pace of play good on front slow on the back
Awful
Simply terrible conditions. Tee box on #5 was 53 yards from the pin.
It was fine overall as a municipal course but the pace of play was a nightmare - some of the worst I have ever experienced. Five hours, fifteen minutes is massively unacceptable for this course. I did see what looked like a ranger out there but he did nothing to speed up play.
No matter what standard of golfer you are (I am an 18) it still shouldn’t give you the right to go so slow.
Until the ranger politely lights a fire under people’s butts, this will always turn a good time into a pain in the neck.
Painted mountain conditions
The fairways were in bad condition. Areas of sparse grass and dirt ground and mud. Tee boxes very bumpy and sparse grass with dirt and wet ground. The greens were very slow not mowed close.
Appears the course has shut off the water but some areas ie. The 18th fairway was soaking wet in some areas.
Fair and easy
3 rd time playing course over many years, it's not difficult, fair layout, can score if u can putt unfortunately greens were hard and speeds all over the place, bunkers need work,as well as fairways,if u want fun round that's not gonna stress u out play this course before u take on more difficult courses in the area, beverage cart only saw once bummer, I would recommend this course for fun
Pleasant surprise
I enjoyed my round at Painted Mountain. The fairways were firm and fast but not burnt. The greens were in fair shape. I did not get into any bunkers but they looked good. The pace of play was great, less than 3 hours. Two groups allowed us to play through.
Painted Mountain
The staff is amazing which makes the whole golf experience so much better. The course is amazing. When we have people come to visit we always golf Painted Mountain.
