Wonderful day at Stonecreek
The course was in good condition overall and not as wet as I expected following the rain two days earlier. We appreciated the improvements that have been made recently to the driving range (new mats with adjustable tees) and some new ball washers on the course.
Greens are in very good condition. Pace of play was reasonable (about 4.5 hours) even though the group right ahead of us was a hole behind the group they were following. We had a wonderful day overall. Great value for the cost.
Disappointed
We found the course difficult to play because the small pictures on the score card made it hard to anticipate hazards (ravines). The only measurement markers were the 150 poles. I was appalled by the amount of debris and trash around the course. It wasn’t just from today but obviously no effort is made to clean things up. It was disgusting, and we will not play this course again. We’ve been coming to the area for six year and have played several courses. I’ve never complained about any of them until today.
Average course/slow play
Average course with a very slow pace of play. There were no rangers to move play along. Some holes were cart path only and/or had standing water, but it has not rained in a week. Other golfers said it was from over watering!
People were friendly.
Slowest course in AZ
Course itself wasn’t bad. Grass was well kept aside from a few spots of random standing water. Bunkers are more like a hard clay and dirt mix. Pace of play was laughable. I understand this is peak season, but packing rounds 3 minutes apart is a joke. Had we finished our round, it would have clocked in at about 6 hours total (and we were playing scramble). If you’re really in a pinch the course will do, you might get in 18 if you start no later than 1pm. Staff was friendly.
Great course, beautiful countrh
Great value here! Beautiful course was in good shape in February. Couple of spots with some standing water, but no major issues.
Turtle run
Had to wait on ever hole. Sometimes more than four foursomes on one hole. 9 holes took almost 3 hours.
This course has so much potential to be great, but...
Course suffers from too much play in winter season and spotty maintenance-some greens have thin growth and ball marks abound and bunkers are not maintained consistently and most are in need of sand and rehab. Pace of play is not good (play early in the day or be ready for a 4 3/4 to 5 hour round) and marshalling is not consistent in getting groups moving. Course is challenging and, if played from appropriate tees for golfers' skill level, will be enjoyable. For the green fee that is being charged one should get better course conditions and value for your dollar especially considering what is available in the immediate area. Golf shop staff is cordial and helpful. And food and beverage operation is good. Meals are ample and tasty and reasonably priced and serving staff is excellent in spite of the rather drab ambience of the clubhouse.
Super Sunday
I do not know if everyone was trying to finish before Super Bowl, but our round was characterized by limited waiting. Great Fun. Course was in great shape, and is significantly better than other public courses. Location offers Mountain View.
Public Course
T he course is pretty and green and the price is reasonable. The pace of play was way too slow and the driving range was overcrowded and in poor condition in the teeing area All things considered, it was fun and a good value.
Brutal day at Stonecreek. Where was the marshall?
Brutal course management. There was a bachelor party on the course and they let them play in groups of 9, 7 and 5. They choked up the entire course. We finally punted on the round at the 13th hole. The guy in the pro shop had no clue what was going on. Won't be back!
Tee boxes and sand traps need better maintenance
I realize your course gets a lot play. But there's no excuse do not have a fair amount of sand in the bunkers to give a player.a decent chance to not run off the green and no chance for due to the lack of sand and neglect in raking them every morning.
My good sand shots could have saved me par if it wasn't for the lack of sand and the lack of quality of maintenance of them.
You tee boxes were in bad shape due lack of player golf etiquette and laziness like the never ending problem with unfilled fairway divots. I know tee rotation is a must.
The worst bunker is the huge one in front of the 9th green. Terrible.shape - unraked and shallow.
The greenside bunker on left side of green on #12 had no sand and was like hitting a hardpan shot. Shallow and couldn't pop it up and nearly went in pond across green.
Besides that your course has great value and challenging. And will continue to play it occasionally. Your staff is excellent and practice facility is above average.
A wee bit thin
Number 9 bunker is a disaster - no sand, just hard pan. Fairways a wee bit thin. Greens need some TLC as they are quite worn in many places on most greens. I played the tips and the Par 3’s are a challenge for the 0-10 Hdcp’ers. No Marshall on the Back 9 and the pace dropped off considerably. I’m hoping the course improves over the next few months as I’m likely to try it again in late Feb.
Does anyone work here?
Traveled from NY to AZ specifically for golf with some friends. This course looked beautiful and was highly recommended by locals. Upon arriving we were greeted by staff and were told to go start at hole number 1. That was the last time we saw any staff besides the very polite and understanding drink cart girl. I have played golf in Myrtle beach on a Sunday in the middle of the busy season and didn’t wait as long as I did at this course. 3 walking groups or old ladies were in front of us and 3 separate singles driving were behind us. Absolutely no ranger was ever seen and no starter was ever seen. No staff to make sure pace of play was met. It took us 3 hours to play the first 7 holes and then we skipped to the back 9 where it was a ghost town. Nobody on the back 9 holes at all. Where is the course management? What moron decided to start those groups the way they did? Wish I could have played the rest of the course but we only got a few holes into the back 9 and it got too dark. Honestly disappointed, I wouldn’t go back here if you payed me.
No sand
They don’t have sound traps there mud traps they only received part of the course could be a really nice course if they put some time and money into it greens are very bumpy
First time played. Course was in good shape. Some standing water but not surprising with the amount of recent rain. The pace of play was painfully slow. Every par 3 was backed up with 2-3 groups. Witnessed players playing multiple balls. Never saw a marshal, which may have helped.
wet and cold
very wet, could only play front 9 twice, back was closed due to been to wet
