TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course
About
TPC Scottsdale has earned a host of honors, including a spot among the top three Arizona golf facilities for service and among the "Top 50 Golf and Resort Destinations in the World," the latter by no less than Conde Nast Traveler.
The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale sits where the Desert Course did, but offers the thrills of golfing a new course, this one designed by architect Randy Heckenkemper, who did his best to fit the new golf course into the untouched desert land that surrounds it.
The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale rivals its better-known sibling golf course, the Stadium Course, with all the good looks and good golf one might expect in the Scottsdale area.

Nice course terrible pace of play
As on many courses these days, they let players of all skill levels on the course and do not care about pace of play. We were a 4 some and had almost 5 hours for the round. We had to wait on every hole and before each golf stroke. You wonder why at all speed of play was not enforced by the rangers. Terrible playing or better said waiting experience.
TPC Scottsdale Champions Course
Course layout is very good and course condition was also very good. Driving range is barely adequate. Staff was nice.
Where's the Wow?
Great course, immaculate, well maintained, but lacking that wow factor one would expect from a course of this caliber and renown. There wasn't one hole that I can remember as a signature hole, one hole where you stand on the tee box, you exhale and say "wow!"
My first Arizona golf
Overall a great course even though they were overseeiding and cart path only. My only two improvements I’d recommend was there was no way to get tees into the practise mats for warming up the driver. Secondly, the service was lacking when we went for lunch. No one would come to our table for service. The gaL working there was spending a lot of time with a four year old wandering around the restaurant and failed to notice us. My salad took well over 20 mins to come to the table. She blamed a shortage of staff for all the issues.
Only a slight disappointment
Recent trip to Scottsdale hoping to play TPC Stadium course was derailed by poor timing and research on my part as it was being over-seeded and closed for play. Played the Champions course instead as it was recently re-opened after over-seeding. It was only a "slight" disappointment as the course was in very nice shape, the greens rolled true but were a little slow, and a real fun layout. We had an early morning Saturday tee time and pace of play was great-finishing in 4hrs even though it was cart path only due to the over-seeding. Will definitely play again.
I had fun on this course. Good condition for this time of year. The course is challenging enough but not overly challenging. The greens were in great condition and rolled true. Enough sand traps and desert scape to keep you mindful of where to land the ball. Overall a great experience for a first time Arizona golfer.
Excellent Golf Course
Hadn't played TPC in a few years, so it was time. The golf experience this time was the best I've had there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was in great condition. Morning weather was perfect. I won't wait a few more years before returning.
Played in 3:45 as we were the first group out at 6:30. The course was in terrific shape. I played a couple other are courses during my visit and none compare to the wonderful conditions Tough holes but if you find the fairway, you can score. Also much more affordable than the Stadium Course.
Gem of a course.
Never thought about playing this course, being the little brother of the TPC tournament course. Then I heard from another golfer it was a great course. I had to see it for myself. The course was in excellent shape, the greens fast and tricky. If you can stay in the fairway, you'll score much better. Nice pro shop and did not get a chance to check out the restaurant. Everyone was friendly and pace of play was good. I will definitely be going back.
Great bang for your buck
If you are playing in the summer, get an early tee time. Course was a little long for me. If I ever play it again, I'll hit from the Red tees. Not much fun hitting fairway and long hybrids on the par 4s and coming up short.
Beautiful course and great staff.
Great bang for your buck.
Championship course TPC
First time to play this course- staff was very friendly- $51.00 summer price was a great value when compared to other courses in the area. The course was well maintained- Each cart has an LED screen with GPS- nice tool for distance to pin and map of course. Scented Ice towels was a nice touch while golfing on a hot day- good signage- waters stations well distributed throughout the course.
Great Course friendly staff
The course was in amazing shape if it was December but it was August! Completed a round in just under 4 hours. Great value in the summer time.
Tougher of the TPCs
Played here on a rec from the clubhouse staff at stadium and wasn’t disappointed. It’s definitely tougher than the stadium course. At the stadium you can spray it and still survive; it is much more narrow at the champions. 15 was a 286 short 4 that was a risk reward hole. 18 is a shorter version of 18 at sawgrass with water all down the left and dares up to take it over the water for your second. The greens were recently punched but were still fast. Definitely play here
TPC Champions
It was very nice and manicured. Impeccably maintained.
Pace of play was very slow and with no marshal actively monitoring, the round took nearly 5 hrs.
