El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Nice Course
This is a great course that is very tight but fun to play. The only serious recommendation I would make is put sand in the bunkers. It is very difficult to play off of hard pan in the traps. The rest of the course was great.
Thank you for your review and we appreciate your feedback as we continue course improvements. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Worth the trip across town.
The course was in excellent condition. Greens were quick and rolled smooth. The staff were very friendly. Pace of play was slow, but to be expected when playing on a Saturday with perfect weather. I played the conquistador course. It was a fun layout. I look forward to playing the Canada course soon.

Played the tips
Played the black tees on Canada with a very good golfer. I’m a 10 handicap, and it was plenty challenging for me. Some tricky bunker placements. Greens were fast & in great shape. Enjoyed the round. Play was a bit slow, but didn’t care. It was 75 degrees, light breeze. Perfect conditions.

6 hr round due to slow play of a tourney I. The morning g. How does a scramble slow down play.

My new favorite!
What an absolutely excellent experience the Cañada course was. Excellent warm-up facilities, including a spacious putting green, chipping area, bunker, and driving range. The course itself was fair and challenging. The beauty of the sight lines is sometimes distracting; it is hard not to want to just take a picture on almost every hole. Will DEFINITELY play again!
Great course but!
A friend and I were a 2 some and we were put with a couple other people which would be expected. One of the other 2 people was extremely slow and barely mobile. This took the fun out of the game and made it painful to play.
Not impresed with the starter doing this to us as the slow person seemed to be regular there. This person should be playing with at most one other to Keep pace of play more reasonable.

Cart before the course
A busy day at El Con meant an unexpected wait for carts to become available, which pre-empted practice time. With a 1:30pm tee time, we finished in the twilight (4:15 round). Canada course covers a lot of territory and has a handful of good holes. Sad to see so many ball marks on greens; they don't repair easily, but not at all without some effort! Rocky bunkers remain a problem. Can't beat the views from elevated tees. Worth what we paid.
