El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
This course has a good variety of holes and challenges.
The course has a variety of holes with significant elevation changes, beautiful fairways and excellent fast greens. At times a fairly decent shot is not rewarded with a good result because the ball will roll through the fairway and the rough and end up in the desert. Similarly, at times the ball will roll off the green, down a slope and into a penalty area when allowing the fringe to grow a little longer would probably stop the ball. This would make for a more enjoyable round.

Great layout - diabolical greens
Course was in great condition.
the fun begins once you get on the green. Undulations and slopes which could mean your ball ends up off the green

Slow Play
Wish a Ranger was out. Very slowly play. Lots of snowbirds playing who have very little to no golf etiquette.

Fun round in the afternoon!
Had a fun round of golf and finished just after sunset. The greens are in great shape, fairways are nice, bunkers are a bit rough in spots and the rough had some dormant areas. The three some in front of us were a bit slow but they were trying. It was an enjoyable round overall!

Classic desert course. Great Mountain View’s. Fast difficult greens.

Canada Course
Great winter conditions. Nice course. I personally like this one better of the two El Con courses.
Nice course
Horrible starter. Very unfriendly. He made an issue about the pro shop not informing me to check in with starter. Then, I booked as a single but he wanted me to ride with another single. It should have been mentioned at booking. Cousin is nice. In great shape. Greens and fairways are in great shape.
Challenging but Fair
The course is in prime shape with the winter grass in fairways and on greens and tee boxes. Fast, challenging greens that will make you take a second look and sometimes scratch your head. Pick your tee boxes carefully as the shorter holes mostly play very uphill. Many approach shots play two clubs longer to not come up short. The dormant Bermuda rough is fair and some areas get sparse so try to stay in the green grass.
If the sand traps were in better shape id rate the course five stars. Balls roll to the low point where sand is sparse, with hard pack underneath.
For $55 including range balls and cart, it’s a great value this time of year.
Canada course
I only played 4 holes, the single player ahead of me was taking 30 to 35 minutes per hole. I went back and played 2 of the holes twice. I left to keep my sanity, the kid in front of me was losing 3 balls per hole. I left to avoid any confrontation with the clown I was playing behind.
Great course
One of my favorite courses in town and It's always in to great shape. Not one negative thing to say of this place. I always enjoy golfing here
Very enjoyable round
Nice place to play. Cart and range balls included, very good practice facility.
Course design very interesting. Riding a must—no way to walk. Very well conditioned fairways and greens. Greens roll very well, but first timers will often have difficulty seeing the proper line to the hole, given the surrounding topography.
Bunkers very strategically located. Trees in the way of any shot to the greens not perfectly located in the fairway can be frustrating,
