El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Hidden gem
Booked on GolfNow and got cart and 9 holes for less than $20/ person. Great value. And great course. Challenging and scenic. Great for the holiday golfer. Some hazards cause automatic lost balls but all in all a great course. Would definitely play there again

Always Enjoy Canada at El Conquistador
Of the two El Conquistador courses, I like Canada the best. The course is in good shape and has its challenges, but most players will find something they like. Although I know most players do not prefer hitting off the range mats, I would recommend that El Con add one more day of mats only to give the grass more recovery time. Looking forward to the next round at El Conquistador.

Canada
Course is good, fun and challenging minus front 9 greens just being sanded. That was a bummer and never mentioned any time before the round. Uphill, downhill & all-around challenging holes.
I will diffidently try it again.

Great 18
Fairways were in wonderful shape, with plenty of challenges and elevation changes. Some narrow fairways are very challenging, and the greens were irregular pace in my view, but I’ve never played them before so it may have been just that.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback on the course and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
Fun afternoon
Nice afternoon. Course lplayability lower due to bumpy and dried out greens on back nine.

El Conquistador Has Seen Better Days
Previous 4* ratings do not reflect the current conditions of this course in my opinion. Friendly staff from start to finish. Driving range is in rough shape which was a harbinger of things to come. Carts are worn and in poor mechanical condition. Tees have been beaten up with the heavy volume of play but the fairways and greens are in decent condition. This is an interesting layout that is in much need of some TLC.

Nice greens.....the rest.......UMMMMMMM
I was looking forward to playing the Canada course but ended up very disappointed. Let me start with the good. The views in various places on the course were great and the greens were in good shape. That's all the positive I can report.
I understand that AZ might be in a drought situation, but it seemed like the whole golf course was not watered enough. I'm not expecting a perfect edge between the fairway grass and the dormant rough, but it seemed the rough had tons of tufts of fairway grass of just hardpan which meant you often had a bad lie if you were not in the fairway. Furthermore, even on the fairway, the course was mowed down so much and it was so dry that practically every lie was a "tight lie." I'm not that good of a golfer to always be playing from tight lies. In addition the bunkers had very little sand in them. You would easily hit the hardpan underneath the sand. The carts were old, the course had just a few water jugs, and the driving range had old yellow dilapidated balls. I paid 18.00 more to play at Arizona National and what a world of difference. Canada came accross as a cheap muni.

First Canada Round
Was staying in VRBO nearby so thought I'd try the course. Got paired up with a good group and played well (bogey golf is good for me). Layout is a bit challenging with lots of up and down terrain. Course was in good condition for this time of year. Was a bit strange to not be able to grab a drink, dog at the turn since the turn is nowhere near the clubhouse. Otherwise, had a great day.
