El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Fun layout
Was fun to play. Hit Irons on some par 4s and 5s. In excellent condition.
OK but could be better
We booked a foursome on GOLFNOW at 9:10 AM. When we got to the course they said we were at 9:20 AM. I showed them my GOLFNOW receipt and they said GOLFNOW often had the wrong time. Not a big deal but the course changed the time to convenience a better time for members. The staff in the club house were also very crabby, It was going to be 92 degrees in Tucson that day and the ice machine was out of cups and not making ice. We did finally get ice when we talked to the facility manager. The pace of play was great... we never saw anybody close behind us. The greens were in good shape and the fairways were all well watered. I would play again.
Fun Day of Golf
My husband and I really enjoy playing at El Conquistador. The course is in excellent shape and it has plenty of challenging holes which are fun to play. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All this contributes to a fun round of golf in a beautiful setting.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course. Glad to hear you had a fun day. We hope to see you again soon.

Fun Day of Golf
We enjoyed playing this course very much. It has plenty of challenges for golfers of our level. We appreciate having the range balls included in the price of the green fees. There also are two additional areas for practicing sand shots as well as chips and pitches. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
OK but clearly struggling financially
I have been fortunate enough to play golf for 40 years. Once in my life I had to call the clubhouse for a new cart when mine quit working. Well three consecutive times at this course the cart failed during the round. There clearly are problems here when something like this happens time after time. The course was in reasonably good condition but there were some bad spots on some of the fairways. The greens and traps were excellent.
Scenic and quirky
La Canada was in very good condition from t-box thru the greens. Some of the holes are quirky which adds to the fun and challenge to score well. Surroundings are very scenic and enjoyable. Walking the course would be extremely difficult given the distance tween greens and next t-box on many of the holes. Driving range balls included in green fees which is nice. Friendly staff. Was a very enjoyable round of golf.
Fairways and greens
Fairways in excellent conditions. Greens run true. Tee boxes are well placed for all levels of play. Seasonal greens fees are an excellent value.
Beautiful layout
This was our first time playing the La Canada course and it was a challenging course, but very enjoyable. Lush fairways and some rough. Greens in great shape rolled a little slow at first, but speeded up as it got hotter. We would highly recommend you play this course.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course. We are glad to hear you had a great time. We look forward to seeing you back out soon.

Excellent course.
Excellent Course, good value for the money. Staff was very friendly, greens and fairways are second to none. Can’t wait to go back.
Great Day
Things couldn't have gone better. Great practice area, complementary balls at the driving range, chipping green, sand practice area and large putting green. This course was in pristine condition and a lot of fun, every hole is different !!
Good greens
The course was in great shape.
Like normal when we play here the greens rolled great.
Greens keeper came while putting and told us the course we are playing rolled just like the practice green.
La Canada Course
Thumbs up on all accord. Beautiful, interesting, challenging, what you see is what it is. Don't cut your shot too tight. The desert is penal but you can find your ball to take the drop. Greens were slow and I wasn't able to get the ball to the hole. The fairways were heaven. The course had rough...hallelujah for that. The rough was very chipable and pitchable. About 50 percent of the fairways had houses but they were far enough away to not spoil the layout.
If it is true that Oro Valley took the course over, I applaud them. Definitely top 10 Tucson. Depending on ones taste, likely top 5. Bang for the buck, I vote top 2 running a close second to Arizona National.
Nice round in the wind
Played in windy conditions with weather front coming in. The layout of Canada is such that a wind from the west will balance itself out; that is, about equal number of holes with helping and hindering wind. Encountered drink cart twice (on weekday, unusual around here). The course is in very nice condition and seems well-maintained, the staff were friendly and courteous. The starter pointed out a soft tire on our cart so we could switch carts before starting, avoiding a flat in the middle of the round. That was nice.
A current review on golf course and conditions would be helpful. Thanks for the heads up on the ice machine, though.
