El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Fairways and greens
Fairways in excellent conditions. Greens run true. Tee boxes are well placed for all levels of play. Seasonal greens fees are an excellent value.
Beautiful layout
This was our first time playing the La Canada course and it was a challenging course, but very enjoyable. Lush fairways and some rough. Greens in great shape rolled a little slow at first, but speeded up as it got hotter. We would highly recommend you play this course.
Course conditions were excellent
Good experience; Starter was very nice; course was in excellent condition.
Thank you for your review. Glad you had a great time. We look forward to seeing you out soon.

Excellent course.
Excellent Course, good value for the money. Staff was very friendly, greens and fairways are second to none. Can’t wait to go back.
Great Day
Things couldn't have gone better. Great practice area, complementary balls at the driving range, chipping green, sand practice area and large putting green. This course was in pristine condition and a lot of fun, every hole is different !!
Good greens
The course was in great shape.
Like normal when we play here the greens rolled great.
Greens keeper came while putting and told us the course we are playing rolled just like the practice green.
La Canada Course
Thumbs up on all accord. Beautiful, interesting, challenging, what you see is what it is. Don't cut your shot too tight. The desert is penal but you can find your ball to take the drop. Greens were slow and I wasn't able to get the ball to the hole. The fairways were heaven. The course had rough...hallelujah for that. The rough was very chipable and pitchable. About 50 percent of the fairways had houses but they were far enough away to not spoil the layout.
If it is true that Oro Valley took the course over, I applaud them. Definitely top 10 Tucson. Depending on ones taste, likely top 5. Bang for the buck, I vote top 2 running a close second to Arizona National.
Nice round in the wind
Played in windy conditions with weather front coming in. The layout of Canada is such that a wind from the west will balance itself out; that is, about equal number of holes with helping and hindering wind. Encountered drink cart twice (on weekday, unusual around here). The course is in very nice condition and seems well-maintained, the staff were friendly and courteous. The starter pointed out a soft tire on our cart so we could switch carts before starting, avoiding a flat in the middle of the round. That was nice.
Couse was in nice shape. Pace of play was slow. Almost a 5 hour round, and no Marshalls in sight.
Winter vacation
It was a little cool the day we played... Driving range was free. The starter was very nice and gave us a yardage book. The course was in great shape and I would definitely play again. I booked it on Golf Now so that made it more affordable.
Beautiful course.
Not as expected - not so good
We had to pay additional 40 USD (!!!) per person for renting clubs (on PGA Golf West Palm Beach they ask 45 USD and mostly we pay 25 USD. This was OVERPAID! The guy at the golf shop there also did not want first to give us the package (free balls etc....) and if we did not ask twice he would not give us even the water (in Arizona this is a must and it WAS in the prepaid package mentioned).
The golf course is between the town homes, too much spread (long distances to go by cart between 2 holes with not so nice/picturess views as expected/seen on photos.
Too slow - 4 -4.5 hours by cart (waiting and waiting....).
The location was strange - not at the hotel resort as expected. It is 10 min driving...All around and between little golf course homes, even you drive along the hiway and on the pavement (if this can be called "pavement" next to normal car/trucks.
Much improved
The course has almost returned to its former excellent condition. It had fallen on hard times but now that Oro Valley has taken over it is in very playable condition. It is still a little rough around the edges but the greens, fairways and tees were quite nice.
Course is in good condition.
We had heard so so reports about the course but we were
Pleasantly surprised. Good experience and the staff was very friendly.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course. We are glad to hear you had a great time. We look forward to seeing you back out soon.
