El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Conquistador Course

The course was in good condition and the greens were fast. Overall pace of play was good. Friendly staff.

Fairways were in good shape, greens were true & fast, & bunkers were in pretty good shape. Would recommend to others, & will definitely be back to play again. Good experience & price was reasonable.

Always extremely difficult. Most greens are very elevated so play from a more forward tee than you’re used to. Fairways are mostly pretty tight, with one side or the other that rolls off into the wash or desert. Instead of overseeing the greens, they roll the dormant bermuda grass and paint it green. Tough to get a true roll on shorter putts. Each time I’ve played it, I’ve left saying I’ll stick to the other course, Canada.

I’m a 12.9 handicap and drive the ball 220 tops when I catch it good. I’m pretty accurate, but this course humbles me.

First time playing this course. It's only been open a few weeks after a major renovation from my understanding. Course conditions were nearly perfect, the greens were in great shape and rolled true. I think the course plays harder then it's rating! Starter was good and friendly, we actually teed off a little early and the pace of play was good for a Sunday morning. The elevated greens are a challenge, but will definitely be back!

The staff is always friendly at El Con. The price is also very good. The Conquistador Course is just not a very fun course to play. After reopening, the conditions were okay...this will probably improve with time. While the greens were very firm, they were in decent shape. The course plays narrow with little forgiveness on several holes. The Canada Course is more fun to play.

The course is beautiful with great views! I mreally happy with the new starter - JD. Super friendly and really did a great job managing the course the day I played. The pace of play was smooth and unhurried, it’s amazing the difference when the starter knows what he’s doing. His efforts made a busy course an enjoyable round - mush appreciated.

Everyone from the time we arrived to when we left were the most courteous and helpful ! Marshals out keeping up the pace of play and we’re the nicest guys.

From the bag guys to the ranger, never seen such complete coordination. I’ve read a few negative comments about slow play etc but the day I played was almost perfect. It was busy and the parking lot was full and the tee sheet was full but one of our group couldn’t make in time and the starter(I think his name was JD) was calm and just told me, no problem. I’ve never quite met a starter like this guy. He smiled a lot and the friendliest guy I’ve ever met but man he kept everything tight and made sure everyone understood pace of play. When our 4th guy showed up we were 30 minutes late but somehow within a few minutes , he had us playing. He kept everything moving and we finished in slightly less than 4 hours. My playing sucked as usual but that wasn’t the staff’s fault. The cart guys to pro shop and the starter were like a well oiled machine in my opinion. I don’t know how he did it but the starter also acted as a ranger. As busy as they were, I still don’t know how he did it but I even saw him a couple time on the course rangering, although there didn’t seem to be any holdups. Oh yes and the courses are beautiful!!

Played the Canada course. They open the course from over-seeding 2 days ago, so cart path only. Which wasn't a big challenge (most fairways aren't that wide). Greens were a little tricky due to over seeding , but not too bad.

Course was closed for many months for improvements (pumps and irrigation) and while at it some course changes, sodding, bunker improvement. All work well and conditions everywhere were nice. Reseeding was also done (tees, fairways). Greens ran on the speedy side, especially downhill. A bit bumpy and firm, but very playable and I don’t believe any seeding added as they weren’t emerald green and seemed on the dry side. Plenty of bunker sand with plugging possible.

Free range balls, friendly staff, restaurant closes early but pleasant when open. Look for discount prices as can be mid-pricy in winter. Second course (Canada) open soon, should play similar but greens there are different type grass so not sure how they will compare….enjoy them both!

Missed a few holes as there is no available map, app only shows current hole, and signage is hard to see or non-existent.
