Fun City Course...
Crooked Tree is fun layout with a fair amount of difficulty. It is a city/county course and the conditions are consistent with what you'd expect for a muni course. The greens are scheduled to be cut within the week so they still ran a little slow, but were in good shape. The overseeding has come in average. Overall, while the course a little over priced it is a fun course to play and I would recommend checking it out.
Great Day
From the arrival at the proshop where the cheerful camaraderie was notable until turning in the cart to the pleasant individual there , it was an enjoyable experience. Replacing some sand traps with grass bunkers helped speed up play and still provided plenty of challenges. Always a treat to play the course although prices seem to be rising faster than the increases in Social Security. Thank you.
Looks to me that they did a good overseed. Greens we're a bit slow to my liking, but in good condition. Not sure about the grass sand traps, but not a bad idea if they stay the same length and condition.
Where Did the Bunkers Go?
I hadn't played Crooked Tree for a couple of years, so was surprised to see that they decided to fill all of the bunkers in with grass. I don't think I saw a single sand bunker on the entire course. Instead, the bunkers had been filled with some relatively long, wiry grass. They didn't bother to shave down the edges to eliminate the bunker contours, they just planted grass in them. It was weird. Maybe they feel that maintaining bunkers is too much work or not cost-effective? In my mind, that's just a lack of proper training of the grounds crew. Or maybe they thought that bunkers make the course too difficult? Sorry, but ALL decent golf courses, including most every muni, has sand bunkers. They are part of the game. The rest of the course was fine, the overseed is coming in nicely (though it made for incredibly slow putting!), and we enjoyed our round. But to remove the bunkers and still charge what they do for greens fees, I doubt I'll be back any time soon.
No more Bunkers
Sadly Crooked Tree has gone down hill since the pandemic.
They’ve removed all bunkers on the coarse and just filled them with gigantic rough grass. Coarse is nice and lush from all the rain but all the greens, even the practice green where not cut down or rolled. So figure about a 4 on the stemp meter. Slow slow slow. Like putting on a fairway. For $50 your money could be spent elsewhere. Drop another $20 and play a much better coarse nearby.
Good, but overpriced for over-seed conditions
The course is nice. Not overly challenging, but good for recreational play. With exception of the greens being long due to recent over-seeding, the course conditions were were good. My only complaint is that they should have provided a discount (or more of one) due to the furry greens 😕.
Course was shaggy from over seed and not yet tightly mown, especially greens. No sand bunkers, just 3 inch grass where bunkers once were. I guess a cost measure.
Nice. Course
Like all area courses recent overseed so shaggy, especially the greens. Essentially all sand bunkers have been replaced by grass bunkers. I presume this is a cost containment measure. It changes the character of the course. In a few weeks once greens are cut play should be better.
Changed my tee time
I got the the course to be told my guaranteed tee time had been changed to accommodate a 4some. How can there be a 4some when I had a guaranteed tee time? Watched the 4some tee off and 2 of the guys completely missed the ball on the 1st tee when they swung. Not happy with Crooked Tree. Doubt will go back and will definitely let my golf buddies know what happened.

Bad shape
Really bad shape, the greens were horrible, either sand or grass in bad shape, no bubkers at all, all of them covered in grass, needs a lot of maintenance!!
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve and are working diligently to improve the course. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
STAY AWAY
This. Purse used to be really a great. Purse go play but it has went TERRIBLY downhill!
We will not go back. The holes are ragged/ greens are as hard as a rock,

Greens are horrible
The greens and the fairways are horrible, the only green grass is the fringe and the rough. The greens are just matted down dormant grass, never knew where the putt was going to end up. Wouldn't even consider playing this course again for at least 2 months.
