Good for the average golfer
Fairways and greens are in good shape. Cart paths definitely need work. Still, a very enjoyable round for money.
Don't play on Wednesdays
1st visit. Booked a bargain tee time as a single and got sent out in between league play groups with another single. Tortuously slow round. Waited 5-10 minutes on every tee. Course was in pretty rough shape and the clubhouse was pretty tired as well. Seemed like a beat up muni, though I'm told it is a private course.
Short, executive layout with tiny greens. For most fun, leave the woods in the car and play off the tee with mid-irons on the par 4s. On the 3s, some of which were pretty long, it's whatever will get you there of course.
Probably worth the fee I paid (just,) but I wouldn't go back. For a couple of extra bucks I could have played any number of finer tracks.
Nice little course
It is a nice little course. The fairways and greens are in good shape, however the sand bunkers are terrible, hard packed with lots of rocks.
october greens
Dorado has these fairways and greens in excellent condition. It's a must play for the vallue.
Unorganized, poorly run
Our fifth trip to Dorado. Booked online then called to add two more. Nobody informed me that we would have to play our 18 by repeating the first nine. #2 we paid for riding. Well there were not any carts. Didn't see many golfers either.waited and still no carts, so we decided to practice chip and putts and were scolded for being on the putting green. asked why we didn't obey the sign. Um, the sign was a 8x10 piece of cardboard with handwriting on it pointing the wrong way! Thought it was trash! so carts finally come along 30 minutes later. Got to 10th hole and scolded again told to repeat 1st 9! What?! Why weren't we informed by anyone?! Not going back. Very poorly run!
Not impressed
First: Only nine holes open. Played the first nine twice.
Second: The green fee at the course was less than Golf Now"s price. It is a course for old folks husbands and wives. Doubtful return.
Disappointed!
Course is packed to close where greens are to close to tee box on 7th. Too many drunks and no ranger.
A very nice course for a beginnner
This is an executive course so is mostly par 3's with a few short par 4's. It is a lot of fun!!! I happened to play on a day when the course was virtually empty so had a quick round. This is a perfect course for someone like me trying to develop a game.
Nice little course
The day began as I checked in. The front 9 was running slow so they sent me to the back 9. Course is in good shape for a short course as it is and got to actually use my driver on a few holes. Went to the front 9 and was running a little slow but my twosome was turned into a foursome and we all had a relaxing game.
Course is great for working on your short game & Iron control
Great course to keep up on irons, it could use some attention on putting greens & that rock hard cement they call sand bunkers! It is Golf an it's always a challenge no matter the course up keep.
Very fun course
This course is in really good condition considering it's summer in Arizona. It was a fun day. Staff is super friendly. Price was right on GolfNow. We'll definitely play this course again soon, if the monsoon rains cooperate.
A Great Afternoon!
Sneaking out of the office a little early on a Wednesday afternoon to meet some buds and play a little golf, what could make hump day any better? Close to the office, we met at Dorado Country Club and because the temperature was hovering around 100 degrees we had the course virtually to ourselves. It had been a while since I played here, but manger Chas Carter was still running the show. I t felt felt kind of cool that her remembered us from our last outing. My friend Mike had aced the 200 yard 18th hole for his first ever hole in one, The price was right, $22.00 for all you could play with a cart. Dorado is an established course with plenty of big trees providing lots of shade so the heat really wasn't a problem.. The fairways and greens were in great shape but the sand ttraps could use a little work. All in all a great afternoon at a great price.
Hole on 1
This will be a bias oppinion since I hit a hole on 1. 200 yard #18 with a 3 iron. Here is what I will say. I have been playing this course for 20 years and love it. It is short so I can get a round done in about 3 hours. You still get to use your driver on about 4 holes. Is kept in fairly good shape. The club house come use an upgrade and not a lot of food or drinks. They don't come around with drink to purchase but you can buy a six pack at the club house before you start. I love this course. If you haven't played it before go have some quick fun. I gave myself a Challenage once and said I couldn't play a big course until I shot under 70 on this course (par is 62). I made me work my short game.
Same old Dorado
Not much has improved in the 10 years I have been playing at Dorado. Always promises, never action. Most fairways and some teeing areas are in need of grass. Greens are quite good. The bunkers are basically unplayable since the sand has almost completed its transformation into cement. Cart paths, what there is of them, are deteriorating. Restroom were built around 1970 and never updated. Café serves soft drinks, beer, hotdogs, a few sandwiches and microwaveable frozen sandwiches. Dorado is, however, only one of two executive courses in the Tucson area and does fill the need of short game practice.
Nice Executive Course
Great place to work on middle and short irons. Nice to play on bermuda greens for a change. Definitely exposed some of my big weaknesses...lol.
Good for beginners
Short course with par three and four holes. Many seniors play this course and it is great for walking when the Tucson heat isn't ridiculous.
This course is fun and the play is fast.
This executive course is fun and has nice scenery. It is not very difficult and it is a good exercise to sharpen your iron efficiency. The greens putt pretty true but the cups were pretty furry around the edges. The staff has always been very friendly. I've played here maybe three or four times as a walk on and was able to get on right away. I'll be back again.
Nice little course
Great course to work on your game. Clubhouse and course upgrades in the future is what we were told.
