It was closed
Let me book a tee time but course was closed when I got there. Luckily I was able to play on the north course.
Good layout but....
Interesting layout. Good variety of holes. Half of the greens are dead and grass on the fairways is sparse. Overall you get what you pay for.
We are always satisfied with everything at Pelican Bay South
The absolute worst course I have ever seen.
This is the first time I have ever written a review, About anything in my life. So I’ll keep it short.
The course is the worst course you can imagine. The fair ways are all sand not grass. So it’s literally like being in the bunker all day. I’m not exaggerating . The greens are not greens. They are dirt . The whole green area is dead.
We asked the pro what’s up at the 9th. (Nice guy) he informed us, that the sprinklers broke 6 months ago. And still haven’t been fixed. And the greens have a fungus that’s why they don’t have a blade of grass on them.
I bought it golf now very cheap. But it wasn’t worth $5 honestly.
The course should be shut down and renovated from the ground up. It’s in absolutely horrible condition . Honestly please don’t play here under any circumstance you will not enjoy your day. I’m not a fancy guy by any means. And it dosent take a lot to impress me. So don’t think I’m a golf snob that didn’t like that I had to carry my own clubs, not the case.
You will have a better day golfing at the park with a solo cup as you flag it’s that bad.
Burnt out greens and fairways
A cow pasture would be kind, over 70 % of greens were burnt out no grass, the fairways 80% the only green were weeds, the putting green was burnt out to say the least. The bunkers were hard and no sand,
This course is a disgrace to be rated as high that Golf Now has it.
A waste of money, to say the least. By the way the only green on #18 tee was 6" weeds.
Played this course last year wasn't bad, but now, the WORSE kept course I played in Florida.
I would rate it at. 5 only because of the lay out.
Save your money do not play this course.
Poor conditions
Overall the course was poorly maintained. The greens have bald spots on them and none of the sand traps had any rakes on them. The golf carts didn’t have any either. The staff was leas then pleased to see us. During our travel from the 9th hole to the 10th hole you have to pass by the club house, there was a staff member sitting in a golf cart, he didn’t wave, didn’t speak, just mean mugged us as we drove by. We had to wait to get checked in. A staff member never drove around offering any drinks for purchase. There pro store barley had any merchandise in it. Even the men’s bathroom was unavailable in the club house because another player destroyed it somehow. Overall a poor experience.
16 greens are unplayable
This is in worse shape than Indigo and Indigo is closed, Do Not Play! 16 greens are full of bare dead spots big dead spots , stay away
Just needs maintenance
It’s still a great course, but the lack of maintenance kills it. There aren’t even rakes to clean up when you get out of the sand. Staff was nice, but a cart girl would be excellent. Golfing is thirsty work.
Whine & Geez
We play 120 rounds a year and 25 of those are at Pelican South. Layout is great, conditions depends on the weather. I had an 81 with a lost ball and got beat by four strokes. Thin lies with sparse grass? Hit down on the ball. Inconsistent traps and greens? Hit the pin. Not nice enough for you? I've played all the top rated courses around and all but 3 have terrible greens due to dry weather. WHINERS ALERT! This is golf not bowling.
Course is in terrible shape
I golfed this course for the first time and it was in terrible shape. It was like playing in a pasture. Greens were rock hard and the fairways were brown. I do not recommend going to this course.
CCo
Nice layout, several greens are. In rather poor condition
Great value
Nice course. Some challenging holes with a lot of water in play. A few greens need some work but it’s early in the year.
Staff was awesome.
Good layout and great value.
