Go Play LPGA! Photo submitted by oakleyduff on 06/26/2013
Beware the back 9
The layout of the course is excellent and you progress along with more and more challenges and difficult holes. Greens were in perfect shape and the grass on the rest of the course seemed to be very good. For the higher price they charge, they do little things like give you a bottle of water and the scorecards were copied on pink paper, not a "real" scorecard. Cart girl came around several times but halfway house was not open and I would have welcomed a sandwich or hot dog. Practice facilities were excellent, with a grass range, multiple chipping and sand areas, and a very big practice putting green. Golf shop had good deals on merchandise. Overall, I would say this is an above average course and facility and would recommend it to better-than-average players, as there are challenges.
Hills tough to climb
Tough track, especially due to the greens. They’re small (some VERY small). Many are elevated enough to hide much of the green’s surface from the fairway or tee. And quite a few run away from you, sloping from high front to low back.
Oh, and they’re pretty fast and slopey.
A lot of holes with lakes or swamps in play. Some lengthy forced carries.
Course conditioning was very good but short of excellent.
Impressive facility with nice practice range.
Office and manager not friendly
Leave it to the manager and office staff to leave a bad impression. I heard one say to the other “ just slam the phone down on them “.
Then when we heard our round was really delayed the manager said no we were 2nd up. 50 min later we finally got to tee off.
Impossibly slow pace, overbooked course
The Hills course is a good looking track, but of the handful of times I have played, I’ve only finished 18 holes once. There wasn’t a ranger monitoring the groups, just a “starter”, and in a few instances, the course is flat out overbooked. I’d be weary of booking this course on the weekends as you’ll most likely run into a slow round or an unfinished round if you opt for an early afternoon tee time.
Great course, fair condition.
I love playing this course. I usually play this course in the summer when the rates are cheaper. Found a hot deal for $36. Steal! The course was very wet and soggy due to large amount unseasonal rain. Many of the greens were not in great shape, which is surprising given the caliber of this course. Still a very enjoyable round! I'll will be back many more times.
Wet
The course was wet due to recent rain. Second time playing this course...wet. Cart path only. Felt pushed by the group behind us. Playta wet course has its challenges. Course is well kept but you have to deal with the soggy conditions. Would consider coming back, only if it has not rained in some time. It is a tough course and does require course management.
Bring water
No water on the course and the snack shop at the turn was closed no way to get anything to drink. Did not see the cart girl on the back nine. Course was in good shape couple of greens has some sand on them. High handicappers probably need to play The Jones course not the Hills
Very good experience.
Enjoyed my round at the Hill course at LPGA International. Have been playing since the 1980's and got my first ever hole in one on the par 3 7th hole! 187 yards, uphill, into the wind, 3h. Unbelievable.
Course design is very good. Condition of course is good, but could be considerably better. Range is good, but was crowded and the tee area was pretty sparse with grass and needed to be moved. Greens were good and quick and rolled true.
Definitely a good value
