Halifax Plantation
About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

Great greens
The greens were excellent. The only problem is the fairways weren’t quite grown in and a little patchy, but improve your life. The course is very playable.
Nice course
The course was nice could’ve been better. Tea boxes were rough and fairways needed some more work.
Fairways Unplayable
Nice greens and traps, but the fairways are unplayable. No grass.
Great conditions, but the setup and pace are major "bogeys.“
I’ve been playing the game for 40 years, and I have mixed feelings about my recent round here.
The Good:
The conditions are **good throughout the course**, from the fairways to the bunkers. The greens are impressively consistent—just be prepared, because they are **lightning fast**. The layout is excellent; it offers plenty of challenges that keep you on your toes, but it’s fair enough that you aren't completely penalized for a slightly offline shot.
The Bad:
Whoever set the pins today must have had the Masters on the brain. In four decades of golf, these were some of the most unfair pin locations I’ve ever encountered. On multiple holes, the pins were tucked on steep slopes. On one hole, I had an 8-foot uphill putt that passed the hole by only a foot, but then it caught the slope and rolled back down toward me. It stopped in front of me, leaving me with a 5-foot uphill putt for my next shot. It was one of several holes where the pin was on a severe incline.
The Ugly:
The pace of play was **atrocious**. It took 4.5 hours for our threesome to finish, even though we were following a twosome. In all the times I’ve played here, I have never once seen a ranger on the course. They usually have two cart attendants working; you’d think one of them could take a 10-minute ride a few times a day to check on the golfers and keep things moving.
It really makes me wonder where golf etiquette has gone. There is nothing more frustrating than inconsiderate players and a management team that doesn't monitor the pace.
Go for the conditions, but pray for better pin placements and bring a lot of patience for the wait.
Fairways, teeboxes, pace of play
Fairways are getting in sad shape, tee boxes are just bad, pace of play is not good no Marshall's to at least tell.players to speed up or at least do not wait until up front players have clear greens to hit their balls, par 3 are the exception.
COULD BE AN AMAZING COURSE
TERRIBLE FAIRWAYS TO SAY THE LEAST. THEN I WAS WORKING ON MY BUNKER SHOT IN PRACTICE BY MYSELF, AN OLD GROUCHIE MAN CAME UP WITH GIRL HE WAS TEACHING AND JUMP ME FOR CHIPPING UP FROM THE BUNKERS. TOTALLY RUDE AND OUT OF LINE.
Disappointed
Very little grass on tees and fairways, greens nice, will not go back not worth 20$ and I got stuck for 70$ not again
Wow
No grass in fairways, front nine greens very nice, back nine greens top dresses and vert vert bumpy from grass pulled up by dragging sand around, do not play not worth 80$ sad tee box’s not mowed and not much grass, we will never be back, Cyress knoll is much better and cheaper
Tees and fairways
Nice fast greens , number 1 fairway all dirt no grass, most tee box’s very little grass not mowed, I will never be back 65$ and a rip off!!! Do not play…sad
Need TLC
Teeoff, fairways, very bad conditions, not worth the 65 dollars spent
First time visiting
Had a pleasant round, pace of play was 4 hours but considering we followed the men’s league it was fine. Friendly and informative staff. Course was a bit dry on the fairways, greens were superb and fast! I will be playing here again my next time in the area.
Far from worth 75/80$
Let’s start with the positive, the greens are good and roll true. The rest of the course …… eh extremely poor conditions. Tee boxes are dirt and extremely uneven. Fairways with some sparse grass patches but mostly unplayable. Need quite a bit of work. Plenty of other Courses in the area with grass on them. I’d look elsewhere.
Needing a little TLC
Fairways are looking more neglected. The greens are still in pretty good shape.
