Halifax Plantation
About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

Good track. Improving all the time.
Played the course a year ago. I was surprised at how much the fairways have improved. Their greens are great. They need to get the tiny bits of crab grass poking through under control though to keep them that way, but still some of the best greens in the county. This is a very challenging course.
I do have a couple of complaints thought. 1) They had it as cart path only, yet the course was bone dry. No reason to have it as CPO, and I would definitely call ahead to make sure it is not CPO before playing again. 2) The range balls are expensive (but so are many places these days). 3) We decided to play Blue markers. Back markers were supposed to be Black. Black is listed as 7000+ and blue as 6500. However, there were NO black markers on the course, and I would say about 15/18 holes had the Blue markers where the Black would normally be, so you end up playing a 240 yards par 3 (7th) and a 480 yard par 4 (14th)
Great Shape
The course is in great shape. Fairways and tees were really good and the greens were in great shape. Definitely recommend playing this course for the value. Staff are great upon arrival at course.
Beautiful course, excellent value
This was the third time I’ve played this course and have never been disappointed. The fairways are lush and the greens are close to perfect. I can’t wait to play it again!
Horrible members
The good: course was in good shape, greens were smooth, fairways were a little thick but not bad.
Now the bad: we've played here a few times recently. And the first time this happened I thought maybe it was a one-off. Then it happened the second time we played and I thought maybe not. And then it happened again today. Apparently there are a lot of old members of this golf course who enjoy getting up early, bringing their golf carts to the course (with awful music playing) and plenty of alcohol...and then commence to play Speed golf. They play from the front tees and when they reach the green they only one putt and move on. Really doesn't seem like that big of a deal until balls get hit into you, and then you have multiple groups that are trying to pass you while you're in the process of taking your second shot. Literally today, I went to hit my Approach shot on a par four, turned around and there was a threesome sitting behind me 15 ft away waiting to drive past to go to the next hole because they were in such a hurry. And this has happened three rounds in a row when I've played this course. I understand wanting to keep the members happy but you should not let them just do whatever they want. Don't forget, you are a public course.
Ultimately because of this, I don't think I will ever be back.
I'll also be sure to give everyone of my friends who golf the heads up about what they will deal with at this course.
Do better.
A challenging track
Greens and conditions overall were great. The greens weren't as fast as they have been, but rolling good.
1st time playing
First time playing here, staff was nice and helpful from the bag drop to pro shop attendants. Course was in great shape, greens were phenomenal!! Only 2 things worth mentioning, tee boxes were longer or bare and BRING BUG SPRAY! Worst mosquitos I’ve ever seen on a course.
No Bev cart and no water on the course itself once you leave the clubhouse.
Overall great course. Will be back
Great shape.
Course was in great condition. But the mosquitoes were really bad. But I was prepared with bug spray!
Bring OFF bug repellent
First time playing the course and the conditions were top notch, fairways and greens were in great shape.
The course was a good test also.
When we hit the 8th hole there must of been a breading site somewhere because our entire group was getting hammered with mosquitos non stop you would have 7-10 on you at all times. It subsided after 9 but it was brutal I would have quit if there was any sort of slow play.
Don't sleep on Halifax Plantation
Pros: Wonderful staff, the course is in great shape. Greens were amazing and rolled true. Really impressed with the layout and course conditions. Everyone working there was pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The blue tees are the tips. I usually play one up from the tips. Our group (shout out Tyler and Jacob) didn't figure it out until the 4th. Beware the open tee box between the blue and white!
No beverage cart. A definite con on a 100+ day. Water is supplied at the 1st and the turn.
My 2nd visit and I'll be back.
Loved...
Loved it great layout even greater greens. Definitely coming back
