Gone downhill
We used to play this course a lot. This time, it was not in good condition. Fairways were dry and hard, tee areas have not had any much-needed care in a while. This course is often listed as $90-$110 for a round. It is currently worth $50-60. Staff is great and accommodating. Normally, we enjoy a beer in the club house after a round, but it was closed at 2:pm for lack of personnel to manage it after that. We hate clubs that close early, before 6. We did have a nice blt before our round (no breakfast sandwiches there).
Disaster! Course paired us with student/teacher pair to play course
What a horrible experience. We were told that we were paired with 2 people. It turns out the course knew that it was a teacher and his student who said that they were affiliated with the golf club. The pace was really slow, talked/instructed while we were hitting, instructor told the student to hit extra balls without telling us so I walked in front of one... Absolutely incredibly rude and time consuming. I have never had this occur at any other course. Player beware
Winter Chill
A group of 8 went out into the 40 degree Floridian tundra and had an absolute blast. Course while extremely windy and challenging also was completely open due to other golfers not having the stones to put themselves through the torture of the elements. We ended up playing as a big group and were not bothered the whole afternoon. Will be returning but I assume under different circumstances.
Nice Round
Good weather, greens good, fairway fair to good. Overall, a good round!
Over priced for course conditions
The layout is fun, the staff is great. But, every tee box was garbage and the greens need to be mowed. When you charge $100 the course should be in top shape!!
Nice Round at Serenoa
The greens were in very good shape, the fairways were good for the most part and the tee boxes were mostly good. We had a slow slow some in front that didn't have a clue and at one point were a hole and a half behind. A ranger would have been great to see but we played through on 10 when they stopped for food.
Greens are TRASH
New management took over. They are trying to squeeze every penny out of the players. Did not spend a dime on the course. Greens are in atrocious shape and it’s peak season. management needs to do better. Shot my normal handicap so no it’s not because I shot bad. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!!!
Don’t bother
So sad that this once fabulous club & coursit in disrepair & neglect. Now they cut down most of the oak trees reportedly to avoid having to deal with them when another storm blows
through. There are a plethora of courses in Sarasota county. Choose another one.
Lots of water and wildlife scenery
The course has decent fairways. The tee boxes and greens are absolute garbage. The greens had disease and had not been mowed in weeks. Impossible to get the ball to the hole. Don’t waste your money here. Not worth $73. For that kind of money go play Riverwood in Port Charlotte. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Won’t be back.
Your overpricing yourselves
For the last 2 years you're charging a $114 on golf now come on man...
I'm guessing you having a lot of new members..
$114 doesn't make it.. there are many courses in the area that is a more reasonable price evidently you have a lot of members who have signed up...
Keep in mind I like this course it's just not worth that kind of money..
Free Falling
I first played this course in 1991-92. It was a desolate haven for only golfers and wildlife. The course grew into shape and the houses grew around it.
Since then- it’s had ups and downs as most courses have. A year or so ago- greens fees doubled in cost and the quality of this course has not kept up. When asked- staff mention unseen “improvements”. It seems the only improvements are to the new owner’s bottom line….
The Good: The layout remains good. Ice and water remain accessible to players. They have added GPS to carts recently. And the speed of play was good.
The Bad: On a gorgeous Saturday in September they didn’t see fit to cut the greens. It didn’t seem they had been cut on Friday either. Fuzzy and unplayably (sic?) slow! Where they had mowed Thursday or Friday there were huge clumps of grass. On 9 they had mowed long grass and left it there. There were 3 balls under the grass that should have been playable or allowed to roll into water. There were many such issues!
Seranoa has developed a very high opinion of itself- I don’t lack for cash but at $114 out of season it should be ashamed! I spoke w staff and they offered another round which was gracious and professIonal. …Especially for a resident.
Here come the tourists….
Serenoa Not Worth the Price
Terribly fuzzy, slow greens, and awful Tee boxes. Much of the rough had lots of grass clippings. For the higher cost, I would expect better conditions.
