Primm Valley Golf Club - Lakes Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
The Lakes Course is one of two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio at Primm Valley Golf Club. It was the club's original layout before it was joined by the Desert Course a year later. As its name would imply, the Lakes Course features an intricate system of lakes and rivers weaving through the layout and coming into play on 11 holes. The layout is challenging but playable with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers that are balanced by large greens and wide, player-friendly fairways. One of the golf course's most memorable holes is the par-5 second. This challenging 530-yard hole plays around a massive lake but with an accurate second shot, it is reachable in two. There is also water the left of the green and a bunker in front.

Nice day for the links.
Weather was perfect for the day. The course was in good condition and some of the greens had recently been worked on, leaving some minor battle scars. Overall, it was an enjoyable day on the links. Off course amenities were sad, the help left early and there were no snacks for a break at the end of the ninth hole. MLR
No loss ball
Lake course is highly recommended
Challenging fairways and greens
The fairway is well maintained
Reasonable green fee
Lakes good
Course in a little rough shape. Green rolled nice. But a lot of patches. Still a nice round for a Saturday
Unique
The condition of the golf course was good roughs a little shabby greens how did well but patchy overall good value for the money interesting layout good variety play the lakes, played the desert before usually in better shape because it gets more sun just like the lakes better
Disappointed!!!
Played here every time since we started our yearly golf trip. Always enjoyed it. This year the course was in very bad shape. Many greens were in poor condition. Must have burned out a lot of greens because there were many areas that were under repair. Could have lived with this but on 4 of last seven greens we were met with sprinklers soaking the green with standing water and couldn't finish putting. Unacceptable for any course to do this to their customers.
Always a Great Place to Play
Love this course. The course is beautiful and has a great layout.
Most poorly run golf course I’ve ever played at
We had a tee time scheduled at 11:40 and 11:50am and we didn’t end up teeing off until 12:30/12:40ish. We arrived early and were informed that they were out of carts because there was 300+ on the tee sheet for the day. We had to walk all the way down to the driving range after the guy in the pro shop said its not that far…somewhat sarcastically. We then lugged our bags back to the first tee at our tee time and then had to wait another 30-40 minutes because they still didn’t have any carts. I asked why they were out and they said there was a huge tournament in the morning and they we playing really slow. I then asked why the Marshall wasn’t making them play along and they said there was no Marshall… haha what a joke. There was also no beverage carts on the course. You would think that on a day with 300+ golfers you would have a full staff ready to accommodate. Not at Primm yesterday. After growing impatient we decided to walk down to where the carts come back and discovered the staff was casually talking to some tournament guests and then letting them drive out to their cars to unload their bags…absolutely ZERO urgency to get us out…additionally by this time there were about 20-30 people waiting around by the first tee who were supposed to tee off after us. Absolute joke!!! Once we finally got out there things were ok but about half of the greens were completely under repair and in terrible condition. You would think after just reseeding the course would be in great condition. It was not. Extremely bad experience and will not be coming back anytime soon. We will be sure to let everyone else we know what a bad experience we had as well. Yep
Looks like this was once a great venue.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
But the course has seen better days. Bunker maintenance lacking, lots of brown in the fairways and the greens were majorly patched and in overall poor condition.
I don't enjoy writing a more negative review as I'm local and I realize we're coming out of the summer here in the desert. However the courses I'm surrounded by have a September overused and they are stunning in comparison.
This course needs work.
Course was filled in with sod and difficult through the bumps.
Greens are horrid
T box and fairways were in fair shape. However the greens were missing grass and had huge dirt areas
Southern charm in the Mojave Desert
Not seeing any recent reviews of this course, I felt obligated to play Primm for the first time since 2017, and am glad I did. The Lakes course is green, lush, in overall great condition. Every public course has some bad spots, but it was freshing to see crews working on those areas to repair and improve the course. The course has all you can handle; undulating fairways and greens, strategically placed traps and hazards, risk/reward shots, and many varieties of trees off the fairways give the course a Southeastern feel. Very basic GPS on the carts, so bring your own device if you have one.
No Regrets
One of my all time favorites. Primm Lakes
What gets me is when a golfer is good enough to hit a great iron shot close to the pin and does NOT fix the divot. C'mon man !!
There are other people playing golf too
Disappointing
Such a great layout. Shame the green s, lakes and surrounding areas haven’t been maintained. Several greens & fairways have bare spots that need to be patched. Appears they may be working to get it back in shape following COVID. Sure hope so!
