About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Nice course
Great course! There was some slow play but not to bad. The course is a fair challenge and forgiving for all levels of players. I will return to play again.
Average course
The layout is ok..big landing areas off the tee. Nothing tricky about the approaches or the greens...everything is in front of you. Lots of burnt up areas and grass thickness on tee boxes varied hole to hole. Some boxes would have 1”+ grass!! I understand this is done to keep the box from burning, but...
It’s an ok course in ok shape. Not worth $82, that’s for sure.
Bull Run
This was my first experience at Bull Run. The staff was extremely friendly and I was even met with a golf cart immediately upon entering the parking lot and a bag attendant cleaned all of my clubs when I walked off the 18th green. The layout was nice with wide fairways and elevated greens on most holes. For the middle of August, the course was extremely wet. There was virtually no roll in the fairways and quite a bit of standing water throughout the course. The greens rolled well however, there was a significant amount of crab grass on the greens and they had not been cut for the weekend. All in all, a nice layout and staff but for the price and condition, I won’t be going back.
Great Round
The weather was very good, the course was in exceptable shape for this time of year. Good companions to enjoy the round with.
Best course for the bucks
Love this course. It was in good condition after all this hot weather. Was disappointed that the driving range was closed. No discount given or maybe a bottled water. Won’t stop me from going back
Good food, bad course !
Fairways are soft and spongy because they won't let you drive on them! Greens are terrible! Starter was rude and overbearing.
Fun Course
Great course will reward you on great drives, but does not penalize too hard on bad shots. Always a chance to recover. Hole 9 and 18 the ultimate risk reward holes. You have to really examine your game because they will expose your faults. Will play again.
Course is in great shape
While I've played this course many times in the past today was my first time at Bull Run this year. Last year they had a lot of thin fairways but this time the course was in excellent condition. It looks like they did some good work restoring the course to prime conditions (of course all the rainfall we've had this Spring couldn't have hurt). The greens were in good shape as well, rolling a good speed and very true.
Very Nice
My colleague and I finished work early in Leesburg and found a GolfNow deal for $45 so we hustled on over. We got there at the right time, hitting a big hole in the tee sheet so we were all by ourselves for the most part. Played the round in 3 and a half hours! Beautiful course, the greens and fairways are in great shape, the rough is pretty shaggy so if you didn't hit the fairway you'd better have a good eye to find your ball. Tee boxes could use some work but they weren't a problem, just the least perfect part of the course. There aren't a ton of elevation changes but it didn't strike me as the most walk-able course, some wide separation between holes. That's not a bad thing, just the fact.
The Grill makes an excellent hamburger and fries and Christian is the friendliest guys you'll meet. He does a great job taking care of customers in the grill.
Overall, very nice. Too bad it's in Haymarket and I live in Arlington, or this might be my home course!
Excellent course - good overall experience
Despite us having had rain the day before, the course was in incredible shape. The greens were well-kept and rolled pure and the fairways are pristine. I will definitely be back in the future!
