Bull Run Golf Club

Played the course in about 4 1/2 hours. Great condition considering it is winter right now. Some sand on the greens and fairway was recovering from aerification. Overall we were quite happy with the conditions.

The course was fun to play as most holes have wide landing areas. However, there was plenty of difficulty on the greens. The course was in great shape considering we were playing in January. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We'll definitely make the trip back.

The course is fine at this time of the year. Staff member is friendly.

This was my first time playing Bull Run GC and I thought it was a moderately difficult course that requires good course management skills. The location is beautiful and the fairways are for the most part in wonderful condition and the staff is very friendly. The only real issue I had with this course was the condition of the greens. I could not tell if they were recently aerated or the course simply does not roll their greens. You could not get an accurate read for the break or speed because your ball simply bounced along on its' way to the hole. If they could get the greens straightened out, this would be a four or five star course... very nice aside from the greens!

Beautiful course. Greens run true and are well maintained. Only flaw is the bunkers. Like hitting out of concrete in some of them, just not enough sand. But stay out of those and you'll be fine. Wide open fairways, beautiful layout, and not too challenging although it will test your game in some areas. Got backed up on the 18th but for 40 bucks on Memorial Day no complaints here. Great bargain will definitely play again!!

Unfortunately we could not finish the course because of the snow which started coming down when we were on the third hole. By the time we got to the 10th hole, the green was hard and covered with snow so we could not putt. But we managed to have some fun by counting the number of shots to reach the green... When we returned the cart, the manager gave us rain checks in the amount we paid - something we did not expect.

I last played this course back in August and it was a little baked. However playing this time in December I was pleasantly surprised to find the course in excellent shape. Fairways in good conditions as well as the greens.

Despite a frost delay, we got off on time because Bull Run sent groups off of 1 & 10. 90 degree cart rule was in effect. Fairways were in good condition for Dec. The greens were pretty fast but rolled really well. Bunkers were well maintained. They even had a drink cart going. Many courses seem to shut that down in winter. Overall we had a great day out there and as long as the snow stays away, we'll go back.

A little spotty on a few fairways but it is improving and staff is aware of this. The assistant pros that closed the day were very friendly and helpful. Their friendliness was the best part of the experience.

For a lots of holes they make cart path only so pace of play became very slow and we could not finish before dark even we teed off at noon.

For the end of November the course condition is ok. The fairways had just been punched and it would be nice if they posted this info. somewhere. Bull Run is one of those courses that never discloses such info. Had hoped that under the new regine the sand traps would have been rehabbed. but many are still in sad shape. Not to mention the puddles in some traps...how hard is it to pump out some water? In fairness, I paid 35 bucks to play which is what it should cost at this time of year in the condtion that it is in.

I have played Bull Run several times over the past 10 years. When it is in good shape, it is beautiful. The last few times I've played there they've had problems with the fairways or the greens or both. The worst part about that is the pro shop staff will not tell you if the course is in bad shape and as far as I know they don't really discount much when it is. This time they had aerated the fairways (I did see a lot of bad spots). The greens were pretty good: smooth and fast. Overall nice course, lots of interesting holes. I recommend playing it, I hope it is in good shape when you do.

fairway is wide. and greens are quite plain.

however, yesterday(11/13) there are so many fallen leaves on the greens. I was not able to put.

anyway, the course itself was good.

Bull Run is a fun course to play. I love its layout. I am glad the the course is being restored to its once great condition. The greens rolled nice. Another year or 2 it should be a gem again. Cant wait for that but its very playable right now.

The front nine was fine until I hit the back nine with a shotgun tournament. A variety of challenges.

Course conditions have deteriated in the last few months and the pace of play has become an issue here. No marshalls on the course. 4 3/4 hours this time and over 5 hours the last time I played. Still a good course that is golfer friendly.

Well maintained greens, fairways and common areas. A very challenging but fair course. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely play Bull Run again in the near future.

I always enjoy Bull Run but the design on 18 is the dumbest par 5 in history. I'm 60 and hit my drive in the 230 range. No par 5 should be Driver, sand wedge, 7 iron. The card says 493. If you play it right as a three shot hole it is 440 but forces a layup.
