About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Solid if you live close
First time playing, didn’t know what to expect. No range sucks, I need to get loose before I go out so that was a bummer. The course conditions were really solid, no bad areas, around the greens, greens, and tee boxes were phenomenal. The course layout is strange, felt like some of the par 3’s were longer than par 4’s. Pace of play on the back was horrendous. Tough little course. Halfway house was PHENOMENAL. Big plus. Prob won’t go back since I live about 35 min away but glad I at least went. The greens crew followed out ground around the whole back 9 at 3pm for some reason doing greens work, and the sprinklers were going off mid day and could hit shots in the middle of the fairway on 4 holes because of it. If I lived 5-10 min away I’d go back.

Great Golf requires great courses
My visit too Bull Run Golf Club was nothing short of exceptional. The course presents a stimulating challenge for golfers at all levels, thanks to its carefully crafted design and well-maintained greens. The staff exhibited superior service, providing a welcoming and professional atmosphere. Additionally, the dining experience and the well-equipped pro shop catered to all needs. For an unparalleled golfing adventure set in stunning natural beauty, Bull Run Golf Club is a high recommendation.

Great layout, excellent conditions, pace of play was on target. Highly recommend and I will play again
Needs some TLC
Great course layout but has some really poor conditions. Bunkers need sand, 75% of them are rock hard bare soil. Greens are slow and have some sort of invasive weed in them making them bumpy. There isn’t really a true line to a put, you just have to get lucky for your put to wobble in off line. Fairways were half decent but the tee boxes had that invasive weed problem as well. Overall the course would be well worth its price if the conditions were back to it’s prime. Not worth the price right now, it’s best to find a course where a 2 foot put actually runs true and is not up to chance.
Solid choice - consistently good
Bull Run is one of my go-to courses in the area. Course is fun but challenging, conditions are usually above average and continue to improve. Would recommend. Comparable to Westfields and Stone Wall.
Course conditions need some help
Course has a great layout and practice area. Biggest issues are poor tee boxes and several bad patches on the fairway. Bunkers were hard pan with lots of rocks in there, not sand. Some repair on the cart paths needed as well. Nice course for $55. Not $80.
