About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Poor maintenance
16 out of 18 greens were in such poor condition you couldn’t even putt at all. Not even grass on the greens. Definitely not worth more than $20 to play here.

Absolute Garbage Greens
Greens were mostly mud and sand. Absolute scam of a golf course.

Worst conditions ever
Fairways were fine, the greens were entirely unplayable. I knew that the course was in bad shape when I headed out, but I was not prepared for the disaster that the greens were. Once I made it to the greens, I just looked at the distance and decided that it was a 1 or a 2 putt. There was an uneven black sludge all over the greens, 1/8-1/4 thick making putting impossible. I've been playing this course for over 30 years now and this is the worst conditions I have seen. If I had paid the full retail price - THAT THEY ARE STILL CHARGING!!! I would have been livid, but for the Hot Deal price that I payed $16, it was still a pleasant afternoon hitting my drives and approach shots.

Driving range
Been playing there 30 years ...never been worse...there are no greens...just dirt....its a big driving range at this point...sad really used to be great.

Beautiful Views, Atrocious Greens
Lago Vista has a great layout in the Hill Country of Central Texas with beautiful views of the lake. Golf carts have GPS with additional features. However, the greens are horrible!
If you want to work play a decent track, without putting, it’s nice. Otherwise avoid until they can repair the greens.

Greens are unusable!
It's been years since I played Lago Vista, I had hoped that with the city now owning the course they would restore the course to it's former glory.
Sadly, that is not the case. The greens were completely unusable. There was a black sludge covering most of the greens that appears to have killed most of the grass. Not only is there no grass, the black sludge isn't smooth so you can simply give up on putting.
With the HOT DEAL for $17 it was a pleasure to play the fairways and tee boxes, I just picked up once I made it to the greens. If I had payed full price that they are still asking, I would have been quite upset.
I understand that they have hired a new greenskeeper, I wish him well, restoring the course will be a tough job.

bad greens
Fun little course. Greens are terrible. Only paid 18.00 and won.t do it again

Nice fairways bad greens
Unfortunately the greens were not green at all they were dirt and sand mostly except for a few holes

Needs work!
This used to be my favorite course when I lived in Austin back in 1999. But the greens were atrocious and fairways were ok but need work. They shouldn’t charge more than $20 for 18 holes until the fix the course!

Please don’t make the same mistake I made.
I had friends from out of town come visit and I thought this course would be nice since the area is really nice, but boy was I wrong. Not one single green had actual grass, and every single green was completely unputtable. The price was the same as courses in a 30min radius that are 10x better. The layout had some very nice views over Lake Travis, but I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone. Not in the condition that is was in.

Worst Course Conditions
Golfnow should be ashamed of selling tee times for the worst golf course I have played in my life. The condition of the greens are nothing but mud, dirt and mold. Hardly any grass. You should return the money I paid or give credit.

Worst Course Conditions
Worst golf course in the area. Not even worth the $20 I paid. Greens are s bad that I wouldn’t call them greens. Golf club should be embarrass and not allow play until playable. Or not charge.

Greens are literally just dirt
Be warned this isn’t real golf. The greens do not have grass on them. Even the practice green is toast. Nice spot to hit some balls at while in the area though.
