About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Poor Course Conditions
Fairways are dead and greens are dead and majority of the front 9 greens are unplayable. Very poor course.
Horrible condition
Easily the worst course in the austin area. 90% of greens are dirt and have large holes in them. Every fairway is dead grass and dirt. Very upset this course is still charging people to play here. Would love to know who’s idea it was to purchase all new golf carts when the course itself needs to be taken care of. There was actually a dead deer (at least a week old) in the middle of the fairway on hole 11. Do not play here.

Poorest greens
Fairways are burnt, greens are burnt and have large black areas on them. Greens are uneven and have holes in them. Three temporary greens, but no yardage information on them. With course in this condition, there should be a reduced green fee.

Unfortunate
This course must have been glorious in its day with the views of Lake Travis, layout and location. However the conditions of the course were horrible..Years of neglect for whatever reason has left this possible gem in total disarray...Have always wanted to play Lago Vista...very disappointing.
I can only hope that someday somebody will invest and turn this course around again..

Courses in horrible shape
They tell you some of the green trying to repair. But they don’t tell you the course is not mowed the boxes aren’t mode evergreen has damage to the temporary greens are unplayable. If you want to play this course for 25 bucks know The garbage not worth it it’s a $25 joy ride around Hill country.

Golf Course is in terrible condition
The Lago Vista course is in terrible condition and has been for several years. It is obvious that the City of Lago Vista (who owns the golf course) and specifically City Manager do not care about the course or its members. Apparently, the City Manager hired the cheapest and least qualified individual possible as the course General Manager. I have been advised by several players that have had the unfortunate experience of interacting with this incompetent and petulant individual and were stunned by her distain for golfers and club members. Its a disserve to the club members, the community and golfing public to run course in this manner. I have played this course many, many times over the years and the last few times encountered a dramatic deterioration in the playability and condition of the course. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere to play.

Course in terrible condition
Played it for my first time. There is a reason there are open tee times on a Sunday… course is getting renovated on multiple holes. Every green, every single green, is in horrible shape. Dry grass, bumps, holes, poorly kept tee boxes.

Inexpensive and Good Vibes!
Cons: Unfortunately, the grass in general has not been maintained. It looks like the course did not do well at all with the summer heat and drought. There are several temporary greens, most of the greens are in terrible shape with a couple looking alittle better. #18 is a par 3 and did not have a hole or flag. I lost several well hit balls in the fringe rough due it being ~5" tall in some places and especially around the greens.
Pros: very nice clubhouse that also has a club repair shop. The golf carts are brand new with a nice GPS. You will pay >$100 for a tee time at many courses in Austin and never see a nicer golf cart. It seems like there was a water cooler abd ball cleaner every 3 holes. These stations are brand new as well. I will play an afternoon tee time at Teravista and they will maybe have 4 water coolers on the course and they will all be neglected and empty and they don't have ball cleaners at all. pace of play was fantastic. I finished the round in 3 hours and the groups I ran into were enjoying themselves and gladly let me play through. The wildlife is abundant. I mustve seen 60 deer. They will lay in the shade underneath trees, around the greens, and tee boxes. Everyone from the staff, other players, and people living along the course were friendly. This has the potential to be a great course if the grass issues are dealt with.

Don’t waste your time or money
Buddy said he had a tee time at Lago Vista since everywhere else was booked. If it wasn’t for hanging with the guys I wouldn’t have went. All the reviews are accurate. Lost 6-7 balls in the fairway, hasn’t been cut in weeks. Greens dirt and dry. If it’s your only option to play, just take the day off and stay home. The course should be closed, just like Highland Lakes.

Sad fate for Lago Visra
I have hundreds of rounds here over the last 20 years. And I have never seen this course in such abismal shape. 3 greens close with 60’sq replacement greens. The other 16 need to be replaced also. Between fungus and just plain terrible maintenance they are unplayable. The course has a new GM but I would love to know why he chose to replace all the golf carts vs fixing the fairways and greens. And charged full price for the mess. It’s a sad day for the old girl and I won’t be back.
