About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Absolute waste of money
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! This was the most atrocious golf course I've ever played at. Pretty much every green had cracked dirt, no grass, and multiple sand pits ranging from basketball to bathtub size. On just about every green these obstructions forced us to pick up our balls and move them or just go to the next hole. The fact that this course is still charging full price is a joke and I will NEVER return.
Worst greens I’ve ever seen
The fairways and tee boxes were good but the greens were awful. Full of mud and sand. Impossible to read due to this. Avoid this course at all costs!!!

Unfortunately, all the bad reviews are true.
This course used to be one of the best kept secrets in the entire Austin area. They have replaced 4 of the greens with the rest to follow.. Supposed to install new sprinkler system this spring also. Looks like someone is trying to it make it premium again soon.
Uphill, downhill, angles, it's a demanding course but so much fun to play when in great shape. I must say I saw a lot of unrepaired divots & some beer cans tossed along the course. Thats on the players, SHAME on YOU! Have some respect for Golf and the other players. Hope to see the course returned to glory days by the end of 2023.

Really Bad conditions
I really like the layout and the staff and bar / dining are great. The course however is really bad. Greens had no grass and were just crusty mud. Fairways and tee boxes also had no grass. Just overall really bad conditions and not worth the money. They should adjust the price due to the conditions but I likely won't be back. About my 4th time to play here and this was the worst conditions yet though the others were not great. It is a fun layout so too bad.

Course is in complete disrepair
15 of 18 greens were almost completely destroyed. It’s by far the most beat up course I’ve played. I’ve played it when it’s been in a good shape. It’s a shame it’s gotten so bad.

Nice views but the greens were terrible
Greens are not well kept at all. Sand bunkers are full of overgrown grass. Course needs some attention.

Unbelieveable outing
I've played this course frequently over the past 8-10years. Although I've read reviews and spoken to golfers since 2021 the poor conditions of the course. I had to see for myself, sadly to say I won't be playing the course in the future.
Generally all the greens are in serious disrepair and a number of bunkers are invested with grass sprouts.

This course shouldn't be open
Unbelievable how this course has the audacity to charge people to play it. The greens were in absolute shambles, making it impossible to actually play a round of golf. I could have gone to an open field and had the same experience as this course. Terribly maintained, surprised it's open for business.

Lago Vista - Don't Waste Your Time
Temporary greens on 4 holes - no indicators or signs or yardages available on these holes. 40-50% of all other greens are in terrible shape.
Course layout is ridiculous - not difficult but 0 identifiers to assist in playing blind shot holes - nothing to alert other players you have cleared..
Junk course - and the staff was trite and indifferent.
Will NEVER play here again.

Horrible condition!
It is almost like they are letting the course go so they can shut it down. Used to be a hidden gem and now is just a goat track!

Lack of grass
The gps was nice carts nice but lack of grass was staggering.Three temporary greens and several more need to be temporary. Fairways were hurting. They need rain badly

Terrible
The course is in terrible shape, multiple holes with the flag stick not on green, almost every green is half mud and dead grass except maybe 2 greens. Staff is great but the course is in absolute terrible condition

Drought has done its worst on the greens. Pace of play was great. New carts with gps were a pleasure.

Course is in horrible shape!
No grass on fairways, greens are horrible with bare spots all over and have had temporary greens since June on 3 holes. Place is being run into the ground.

Course in horrible condition
It is very apparent that the city should not be in golf course ownership. This course used to be one of the best around, current golf course staff either don’t have the knowledge or just flat don’t care about what shape the course is in. So disappointing for such a great place. Maybe someday the city will sell to someone that can revive this great course.

Horrible.
This poor golf course is in horrible condition. The city does not have a clue how to operate or maintain a golf course!! Greens are like putting on a gravel road, fairways have no grass. Very disappointed at the joke of a course this place has become. I only paid $13, but should have paid $0 and would still feel like I got ripped off.
