About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Terrible conditions
Fairways are really bad. Greens are unplayable! Most of them have large indentions filled with sand. It’s a shame because it’s a fun course layout.
Horrible greens
Greens and fairways were in very bad shape. Large patches without any grass, water damage, and sand potholes on the greens.

Enjoyable Sunday Morning
Enjoyed the course and pace of play. The greens were healthy and well maintained (only played the back 9). Only drawback was the lack of food/drink options from the beverage cart.

Getting better
This coarse has had a beating but the staff has and is working very hard to bring it back. I noticed a tremendous change of improvement in just two months. It’s getting better and better!

Disappointing course
Ok, to be fair, with the current conditions of 30+ consistent days over 100* most courses are going to be stressed out. This course however has been severely impacted. The greens were the worst I've ever seen and I've seen some pretty bad ones. most were gouged out, dried up, multiple grasses growing on them. Some of the pin location cuts were literally on the side of a severe slope. Some tee boxed you could barely get a tee in the ground and some weren't even mowed. Fairways were just fried but to be expected given the conditions. With a little TLC this could be the course I used to play years ago but even with current conditions, it's apparent that course maintenance has taken a back seat. Cart were in good shape with nice GPS. Range was very small but ample given the amount of play. Beverage carts were available. I played with an out of town guest at last minute and only course with morning tee time to try and beat the heat. IMHO, it will be a long time before they get this course back to the shape it deserves to be in. Even in good shape, be aware of too many blind shots, funky kinda hole layouts, severe soping green and fairways. The price I think was fair given the course conditions which may/may not be their fault given watering restrictions. Be awhile before I go back to have another round.

There’s a lot to love
Look, the reason you go out to Lago Vista is because it’s super cheap, very casual, and did I mention super cheap? The setting is beautiful with views of the lake and rolling hills galore, and the fairways aren’t too bad…but the greens? The greens are more like beaches. Beaches on the moon. This is not a place to come work on your short game because no other greens you will ever play will be this bad. But again, did I mention it was cheap? And the people are friendly? And the Bunker bar and grille has a pretty expansive menu of tasty items? And the golf carts are relatively new and you can sync your phone to them to listen to musics? And no dress code?
There’s a lot to love about Lago if you enjoy the good, don’t think too much about the bad, and just enjoy your day on a golf course.

What happened to the greens!!
Hot weather in TX to be expected, but expecting GC management to maintain the property. The Greens were in horrendous shape, see pictures on this website. I've been playing this course for over 20 years and the only time i've seen the greens worse is after they've been punched for aeration.

Greens More Like Bunkers
The greens had so much sand that they looked like bunkers. The Texas heat has made this course un-puttable.

TERRIBLE COURSE
fist of all, the driving range and putting green is a atrocious. Tee box’s more like out of bounds fescue. Greens are absolutely terrible. Not even a playable course nor fun. Totally needs some help

Greens? More like bunkers.
The greens out here are completely nonexistent. Some of the bunkers had more grass in them. Absolutely impossible to work on your putting when you have to go through 2 sandy valleys and a clump of mud. Where is the course superintendent? They also charged us for 3 carts when we only had 2, guess the course needs the money more than we do…doesn’t look like they are putting it to good use.

Shameful!
I have never played on greens so bad. For the price you would think free range balls or a hat would be offered! Guys this was beyond ridiculous. GolfNow I’m disappointed a disclaimer couldn’t be made available for those that might be considering wasting their money as I did today!

Horrible greens
I have been playing this course occasionally since the 1980’s. This time the greens were worse than any course I’ve ever played. Literally no grass on the greens. I hope they will get the greens back in shape because I love this golf course. However, until they fix this problem it’s not worth paying a green fee.

Tough Breaks
The layout is very friendly and the views of Lake Travis are really cool but the starter explained they had some bad luck with watering. Algae was present and it affected the entire course. The greens are horrendous and you can see evidence of contamination on the fairways as well. The good ones are really good but this course caught a tough break with their water supply that may take over a year to recover from. While playable, I would give them some time to recover if I had to do it again.

Potential to be really good
Great scenery, most of the course in good shape but the majority of the greens are a minefield of weeds and dirt. Good place to practice everything except putting.
