About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Awful, awful condition
We couldn't believe how poor a condition this course was in. The fairways are baked and patchy, the 'greens' are even worse and completely unplayable: full of sand, dead grass and ruts.
The sad thing is, this course has great views and is really well laid out. Lots of elevation change, big uphill/downhill shots into greens and some challenging tee shots that require accuracy, not distance.
Unfortunately, this is not worth any money they're charging (not even the Groupon we got). As someone who mostly plays municipal courses, this just feels like the city of Lago Vista has given up on it. A real shame.

Would not recommend
This course is in very rough shape. The starter is also not quite the friendliest person. The greens are completely gone and have large craters in them and sand is also very prevalent on them. Some of the fairways are not mowed and some holes are bare in areas. For $45 this course is not worth the money. Save yourself the frustration and find another course to play.

Disappointed
I played this course for the first time in January of 2021. I liked the scenery. I booked the round with 3 other buddies who had never played here. I was so embarrassed with the conditions. The greens were inexcusable. Heard excuse after excuse from the pro shop, Marshall’s etc. $45 for this joke of a course . Will not be back.

Awful greens
Fairways were average but greens were absolutely horrible. Pay a little more and play somewhere better

Quite something
lago Vista was quite an interesting course. There were some well designed holes and nice views. However the reason why I lead with a handful of positive comments is so that I feel less bad about what I am about to say. Each green posed a new and exciting obstacle as the majority of it was composed of what can only be compared to the area known as No Mans Land between the trenches during world war 2. A putter was sometimes not the best club option in the center of the green, which made the round unique to say the least. This course is very enjoyable for anyone fond of building sand castles where they are not supposed to.

Beautiful lake views, terrible greens.
The course was not busy at all. We saw only one other golfer. That may be because the greens were absolutely terrible. We had a fun time though. Probably a little bit overpriced for the quality of the greens. Fairways we’re fine.

Horrible conditions
Played 3 or 4 months ago. Wrote a Google review and they replied saying they are working on course. Gave another try and course is comehow in worse shape. Green are basically all sand. Fairways not mowed enough. Ground hard as a rock. I know it's hot out but would not expect this crap until end of August or so

Needs help
The clubhouse staff, especially in the bar was fantastic. Took my three sons (13, 20, 29) and we had a fantastic lunch and a lot of laughs. Problem is the course is completely dead. The greens are mostly sand (literally) and it’s tough to swallow $45 a person when it’s essentially a field with flags and carts at this point. I know we’re having some tough weather, but several of the greens had no grass at all and you don’t find that out until your on the course. Wish them the best as it’s a great spot for younger new players but not right now

Fairways were in good shape. EVERY green was TRASH. Not worth 30 bucks to play here

Greens are toast
The greens throughout the course are in very bad condition. They are full of sand and the grass that is there is uneven.
