About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Don’t waste your time or money
Buddy said he had a tee time at Lago Vista since everywhere else was booked. If it wasn’t for hanging with the guys I wouldn’t have went. All the reviews are accurate. Lost 6-7 balls in the fairway, hasn’t been cut in weeks. Greens dirt and dry. If it’s your only option to play, just take the day off and stay home. The course should be closed, just like Highland Lakes.

Sad fate for Lago Visra
I have hundreds of rounds here over the last 20 years. And I have never seen this course in such abismal shape. 3 greens close with 60’sq replacement greens. The other 16 need to be replaced also. Between fungus and just plain terrible maintenance they are unplayable. The course has a new GM but I would love to know why he chose to replace all the golf carts vs fixing the fairways and greens. And charged full price for the mess. It’s a sad day for the old girl and I won’t be back.

Overpriced for conditions
Most greens in bad shape, temp greens were almost better.

Lago Vista GC
The greens are in horrible shape now but the track itself is challenging. The drought hasnt helped the course conditions. Three temporary greens and two others that need immediate repair. My wife and I played at 11:30 yesterday and were the only ones on the course- a combination of hot weather and rough course conditions. Overall, it it is good value and the staff there is incredible. We hope it survives because it is a great place to play.

Horrible greens
I understand this time of year in Texas it is difficult to keep up course conditions, but the greens were some of the worst I’ve played. There was maybe one or two greens that were actually up to par with other courses.

Under Maintenance
Great course layout which was likely a beautiful course at one time. Greens are in really bad condition. Fairways are solid. Views are great.

Greens
Course has potential but the greens are flat out horrible. They are attempting to work on them but who knows how long it will be until they are in passable shape.

Please Invest in Your Greena
This place has a ton of potential but the quality/complete disregard for the greens was extremely disappointing and a deal killer for any future rounds. Told me “4-5 greens are temporary”. But failed to mention the other 14 are in complete disarray. The tee boxes weren’t even cut. The course should have more integrity to at least let guests know what they are paying for. Extremely extremely disappointing.
It’s the little things that make a huge impact on golfers and I wish someone would help LVGC realize that. I’d suggest taking the money spent on fancy new golf carts and reinvesting that into your greens.

Worst course Ive played
You can’t even put on any of the 18 greens. Layout is nice and carts are brand new. Should of put that $ into the course. I’ll never be back.

Still want to love it but needs a ton of work
I have been playing this course for years. The layout is fine and can be a bit challenging on some holes. The greens are an absolute wreck. Several unplayable/temporary greens. Fairways are either a wet mess or a dry dessert. Tee boxes are uneven and overgrown or dead. There is so much potential but they have been struggling with the greens for years now. I don’t understand why they cant grow grass.
Pluses are it was only $24.50 with hot deal and juniors are free. I have.a 16 year old who plays and there is no other course that offers that kind of deal. No beer cart and no just plain hot dog so plan on bringing your own.
I really want to love this course again but it is only for the rec golfer who wants to have some fun at a cheap price.
