About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Fun course, bad greens
The course has the potential to be excellent but the greens were absolutely destroyed. I won't go back until they are semi decent

Condition
Not worth the money. Lousy greens and fairways. It’s winter but you still could water the grass. Greens were like putting in marble staircase. Fairways had little grass.

Don't Pay To Play Lago Vista
The place is run down. Fairways are flooded in certain spots from sprinkler heads leaking. The Greens, have no hint of a putting surface. There are sections of the greens that are missing and some have inches high of actual sand trap sand on the green. Don't pay to play there.
Was a favorite course, now, it is the forgotten course. I will not pay to play on that course.

DO NOT PAY TO PLAY LAGO VISTA GOLF COURSE!!!
The fairways are in decent shape for March. They were never that good, but for March, you can find spots to hit from. The Greens are beyond ridiculous. Ryegrass patches all over the "greens" that aren't mowed down. Putting on them is an adventure :-).
The new "greens" they put in recently have large sections of them of piles of several inches deep of sand; a temporary SAND TRAPS as it were.
I did not take pictures on purpose. No need to kick them when they're down. The fact that Lago Vista charged the three of us over $150 to play the course is thievery and the fact that we paid that is stupidity on our part. I will NOT play Lago Vista again. There are better choices in the area with similarly or slightly higher tracks for a better golf experience.
In conclusion, don't waste your money or time to play that course!

Could be really nice....
Great layout but needs a ton of upkeep. Greens are horrible. Disappointing to see a potentially nice course wasted. Not worth the price they charge.

Ok course
Very disapointed with the condition of the greens the rest of the course was ok but the greens made for a tough round

Course is in HORRIBLE condition
There are no greens here - I would classify them as flat areas, the fairways are in better shape. This course should shut down for a couple months to rehab their greens, they're using sand to fill in massive divots on what's left of the greens, which they should be called browns. The clubhouse is nice and lady behind counter and cook are nice, guy checking people in was nice. They really shouldn't charge anything for playing this course though, it's in pretty rough shape.

Fun Little Course in Tragic Condition
This actually a fun little course. It's not very long, and many holes give you a nice opportunity to think about shot placement. It's not fourteen driver holes and four 8-iron par 3's. I enjoy differing strategies as I progress through a course, and found myself using driver maybe half the time. This course has great terrain, and beautiful views. The clubhouse is also quite pleasant, as was the service there. The tragedy here is this course has apparently still not recovered from the February 2021 freeze, like many other courses in the Austin area. It's a real shame, as the greens in many cases have patches of bare sand, and mostly sparse areas of wispy dead grass, with little spider blossoms to deflect your putts as they pachinko toward the hole. If they could get this course back in shape, it would be a nice little gem.
