About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Extremely Overpriced for Condition
Layout decent. If it’s your first time playing, have pro shop write out the directions for the turn, as you will get lost. Course as a whole was in awful shape. Many greens seem to have bunkers, some fairways not mowed, maintenance crew was seen just cruising around instead of taking care of the course. Members don’t seem to care about pace of play, nor do the rangers. The carts were also in extremely rough shape. Our cart’s front wheels were so bowed we thought one of the wheels was going to pop off. Beers are cold, hot dogs were good from the cart girl, but A’s seems to be the case with this course, extremely overpriced. Buyer beware.

Don’t Putt
Beautiful course. Don’t bother playing the greens. Just add strokes as appropriate based on your approach shot. Greens are in desperate need of management and TLC.

Almost our home course
My wife and I are weekend golfers and play Lago Vista more than any other course. The layout is fun and challenging for us and Sunday afternoons have proven to be a good time to play without being rushed or held back by slower players. We like the front 9 more than the bacside.

greens
I have lived here for 15 years and the amount of money this course has dropped into repairing the greens I don't know where it went. It is a joke and the greens keeper has no clue on how to maintain a course nor does he need to be working for a golf course . The greens that were repaired ae already destroyed. The city paid for nothing because they are the same as before if not worse. The staff are wonderful and always professional but please hire someone who can maintain it because it is a beautiful course

Sad bu true, almost all greens had a bunker on them.
All tee boxes where good. Most fairways were good. But almost all greens had some patch or areas with no grass and had sand. So I call it bunkers on the the greens. If the greens where maintained this could be a great golf course.

The course is poorly maintained
I have never played on a worse course. Definitely over priced. Every green has major damage. No fringe, chopped up with weeds and sand. Tee boxes are very chopped up. Hard to tell the difference from the fairways and rough. If you want to waste your money like I did, go ahead and get a tee time. If you can get a tee time somewhere else, it would be money and time well spent! Good luck!!!

Lago vista golf
This is great course layout in the hill country of Austin area. Has a great potential to be a very busy and profitable golf course. Looks like they need money. Mowing was behind. Fire ants mounds were everywhere and the greens need a lot of work. Lost my ball in the middle of the fairway more than once.. there were three of us and enjoyed the day here but the best time was in the clubhouse with some good beer and some great sandwiches served by a lovely young lady..

Conditions at all time low
This place used to be a great course and well kept, has gone way downhill in the last couple years and now as bad as it can get I wont be back until hopefully it improves drastically. Terrible conditions it's like they dont care

WAIT! DON'T GO PLAY IT, YET!!!!
The course is in terrible shape. The fairways grass in some areas are up to 3" long making it difficult to find your ball in the fairway, never mind the ones that are off the fairways in "rough". I love this course, and have played it many times, but will not be doing so until they put real efforts into making the course playable. The 3 temp greens are a joke; don't bother to putt, use a wedge. The other greens are in terrible shape; mud spots, sand pits and missing parts on the putting surface.
I do not recommend playing it until the course is playable, again.

Terrible
I played at Lago on 9/18/21 and the course was horrible. There were 3 holes with temporary greens in the fairways, all the greens are trashed, everything else is brown and the worst part is they still charged $46 with no mention of a discount.. The course wasn’t even worth a dollar a hole in that condition. I hope they can turn it around, I I like the layout of the course and have played there a bunch over the years. But in the current condition, I won’t even consider going back for at least a year.
