Lago Vista Golf Course
About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Worst Course I’ve Played
To say this course was in rough shape would be an understatement. I have never played a course in as bad of shape as this one. The greens were in awful condition. 2 were under construction and had the fairway hole instead. At least 4 other holes should have had this treatment because the greens were that bad. The tee boxes were awful as well. Some of them were more like playing out of the rough the grass was so long. If it was offered as a discount and if staff were honest about how bad the course was I’d understand. I paid full price and nothing more than a note in GolfNow when checking out. Don’t play here
DAVE Larsen
Course was in excellent shape, however play was very slow and we had to skip 4 holes due to slow play.
Course conditions
This was my first time playing out here. I read the reviews prior to going but I wanted to give it a chance. The course layout was really cool. Lots of cool holes. The greens for the most part are trash. 2 holes under construction which was ok but numerous other holes that looked like ski moguls. Those greens need to be completely replaced. The tee boxes are not much better. They were hard as a rock and difficult to place your tee. Again, great layout and a cool course but needs lots of work.
Greens are terrible
Course lay-out was great. Greens are in terrible condition that reminded me of pot-holes on a chicago hwy. Good course for the price
Greens
I know they are going to renovate soon but they should warn you about how bad the greens are!!!
Love this Course!
It is a great value, beautiful.....greens need work, but every place I have been this year has.
Still No Greens
3 years now, no greens! From the road it looks like the greens are improving. Ughhhh, wrong! This city owned golf course simply will not employ people that can grow grass! It’s ridiculous! Don’t waste your time and money!
Brutal conditions
Only play this course if there's no other options. At times it was sad to see there was better grass on some of the fairways than the greens. It is such a beautiful course, but you can tell very little is put back into it. Avoid unless you are content with just being on the course with buddies and careless about actually playing golf.
Much better than before
The condition of the course has improved so much comparing to last years. I would rate it 3.5 to 4 out of 5 stars.
Great view and course layout missing the greens
Not long course but great layout. Only if the greens are good… sigh 2nd game in Austin and I am starting to form a perception golf is either very expensive here or Austin just don’t have enough courses and good green courses.
Lots of blind spots. But the buggies come with GPS.
Overall rating is 2/5 purely because the green is horrendously horrible.
Such a shame
What a beautiful golf course. The views are fantastic, however out of 18 greens there were only 3 that didn’t have large dirt parches and holes in the greens. The staff was friendly and the bunker restaurant was excellent . They need to completely redo all the greens and this place would be fantastic but for 60 dollars I could not recommend this course. The City of Lago owns this course . Come on guys invest in this course and it would be a great place to play. I have seen other reviews talking about the bad fairways but in all honesty the course other than the unplayable greens was in good shape. Please take the time , money and effort to fix this course .
Awful course conditions
The fairways were so long you couldn’t figure out if you were in rough or the fairway, but the worst part were the greens. 60% of the greens were unplayable. Massive holes all over them. Awful experience.
