Lago Vista Golf Course
About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Good track, needs TLC for the greens
Overall the track is a challenging one, with many blind shots to consider your approach. Stay in the fairways cause the rough is thick. Most disappointingly were the greens, that basically had pot-holes filled with sand. Greens need a lot of TLC and should be cut out and resoded to repair and few had molding areas.
Was passing through the area after staying at a local RCI resort and the course was close by to play a round.
Was a practice round given the conditions of the greens.
I’m not good enough to be mad
I’ll start off with the positives before because I know people love the negatives. The Marshall’s, cart girls and kitchen staff were all very friendly. I booked online and check in was very easy, got our carts and loaded up, love that they have gas carts. The course layout was nice with some great views of the lake and hillsides. The fairways were decent, but to a more particular golfer they’d probably be sub-par. The overall course isn’t very forgiving if you over hit a ball, they’ll roll another 20 feet if you’re lucky. The guy up front straight up told us the greens were bad so points for honesty, I do appreciate that. I went for fun with some friends and none of us are good enough to complain, a good green wouldn’t make a difference in how we play. The greens were pretty much a mixture of hard dirt and sand, I’m sure the above average golfer would throw a fit about it but like I said, went with some friends for a good time, not good enough to be mad about it. I was still able to hit a 12 foot putt on one of them. I don’t think the price I paid accurately reflects the condition of the course. I’ve played at several now and I can confidently say I’ve paid the same amount for courses in far better shape all around. The course overall has great potential, it just needs a lot of love.
Worst greens ever!!!
Do not play here under any circumstances! The greens are unplayable. They should be ashamed of themselves. The greens are covered in sand spot and mud and are a freaking joke! I feel robbed for the $44 we paid.
Great Views But the Greens Are Different Story
This course offers a fantastic layout with wide fairways and stunning views. However, the greens are in poor condition, detracting from the overall experience. With better maintenance, it could be a top-tier destination for golfers.
oh my
the course is ok, the carts are perfect with gPS
but thr greens are incredibly wrotten, almost unplayable
Ray's Lago Vista review
The greens were in terrible shape. I was not informed at the pro shop when I checked in.
Wait until the greens are green
Some of the greens were liking putting on the moon, If you dont mind hitting to the green and not putting it is a good course. They did offer us unlimited holes that day because of the condition of the greens.
Refuse to provide rain check - do not book if there is a chance of rain
While I was playing it started to rain and was very windy as well. The course refused to provide a rain check. The reason given was that i have purchased the round through GolfNow website.
Recommend not to book this course if there is any chance of rain
Greens!
Greens are like putting in a sand trap.
Marshall very strict with 90 degree rule.
Was given a lesson on 90 degree rule on hole #1. Two of us playing, one ball went 100ft farther. Was told to return to cart path then back to other ball which is flat stupid. Been playing golf for 50 years and never experienced this type of ridicule. This place needs to close.
Terrible conditions. Greens unplayable. No grass, huge algae problem, greens have massive patches cut out and just installed sand, no grass.. Won't go back.
Putting… Green?
We could only actually play two greens on the whole course. Most had sand divots and potholes, all were brown. The rest of the course was really pretty and nice. We played the 2 putt max rule the entire course because the greens were that unplayable..
