The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.

Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Great view and course layout missing the greens

Not long course but great layout. Only if the greens are good… sigh 2nd game in Austin and I am starting to form a perception golf is either very expensive here or Austin just don’t have enough courses and good green courses.

Lots of blind spots. But the buggies come with GPS.

Overall rating is 2/5 purely because the green is horrendously horrible.

Such a shame

What a beautiful golf course. The views are fantastic, however out of 18 greens there were only 3 that didn’t have large dirt parches and holes in the greens. The staff was friendly and the bunker restaurant was excellent . They need to completely redo all the greens and this place would be fantastic but for 60 dollars I could not recommend this course. The City of Lago owns this course . Come on guys invest in this course and it would be a great place to play. I have seen other reviews talking about the bad fairways but in all honesty the course other than the unplayable greens was in good shape. Please take the time , money and effort to fix this course .

Awful course conditions

The fairways were so long you couldn’t figure out if you were in rough or the fairway, but the worst part were the greens. 60% of the greens were unplayable. Massive holes all over them. Awful experience.

I believe that this course has a lot of potential, and clearly there is someone involved that believes the same. They are revamping their greens and (hopefully) tee boxes. The course lay out has has the ability to play as a really nice round. Unfortunately at the moment the greens are in horrid condition. But play it as a practice round, most of you people out there can’t putt well enough for it to make a difference anyways. Staff is very friendly, and they pace of play is excellent.

Pretty course with maybe five greens

Most of the greens are in really bad shape. Like “ count two strokes and move on” bad shape. Even the ones that have actual grass on the whole surface look good only in comparison to the others. It’s been this way for a while so I have no idea why they haven’t fixed it yet.

Greens

Course is good but if you’re looking for any putting work - this isn’t the course to go to. Great scenic course with a great variety in shots but the greens were in horrendous conditions and had craters in them. I’ve fallen in love with golf recently so I didn’t mind just being out there playing but if you the game seriously, just know putting here isn’t possible on numerous holes
